What works best for my hair is to wash and blow dry my hair at night with Pantene Restoratives Frizz Control Ultra smoothing balm, it's only about $5 and works very well for reducing frizz and poof. I wait to straighten my hair until the morning, I'm not sure why but it does work better. I also use a ceramic straighner, that helps to cut down of frizz as well.

When you take a shower use a really good shampoo like Pantene or Garnier Fructis. When you come out of the shower/bath don't brush your hair put frizz-ease products and then wrap it in a bun. The next day or after 2 hrs. your hair will be wavy and frizzless. Then straighten it layer by layer and quickly so it won't damage your hair. Oh and use heat protectant.

For straight hair use a a shampoo & conditioner specifically for straight hair. Herbal Essences has a line for that.
For less frizzy hair don't use a towel. Try a clean t-shirt instead.

i have really curly hair so when i decide to straighten it, i usually wait for it to air dry and then rub thermasilk smoothing lotion in it. if there are any fly-a-ways after i finish straightening, i spray hair spray on my fingers and gently rub it on the frizz. then it disappears! wooh!

hope that helped. =]
