light on amp doesnt show power but theres 12 volts to unit what could be wrong

If you got a complete kit for an amp it should come with a remote wire Witch is a thin little blue wire and a red power cable and a ground connect them all because most amps require that all wires be connected in order for any lights to come on. Check to see that no fuses are burned out also check for good ground for the ground wire to be grounded on and I think you should be set to Go...

Check your ground, with out continutity to ground, it wont turn on.
