You'd have to find your grandparents, and maybe great-grandparents by asking your parents, then do the same for him. Most of the genealogy data on the Internet is about dead people, to prevent identity theft.

Then you'd have to trace his ancestors and yours to see if there was a common person.

Even then you might fail. If Dante was your father's son by a first wife who ran away to join the circus as a trapeze artist, he was raised by her best friend as if he was her own, and your dad swore never to mention his first wife again, he could be your half-brother, but no one would tell you.

Like someone else mentioned, go to researching Great Grandparents. Way back when...lol, it was normal for families to have 10 or more kids per family.

Its a small world, let me tell ya. One of my best friends (a guy) was introduced to his new girlfriend by my husband. My husband had known her for 17 years through work. I'd just met her. We were talking family history one day, when we realized that we shared the same set of grandparents 3 generations back. So...here sat a cousin that I had no idea about, who grew up not 30 miles down the road. What makes this even more interesting is the fact that my husband, and our best friend...we found out were 2nd cousins, and did'nt have a clue....they had been friends from early childhood! LOL

So...its likely.......don't be surprised.

The DNA test is most efficient and productive but researching both family histories may also provide answers. Also, female dna research is still fairly new as and as I've been told, less accurate for narrow searches.
