It should appear because that is the only place it would be unless it is the original that came with the computer. If that is the case don't delete it it is part of the windows components and could mess up your computer at least that is what happened to me. You could hide it so to speak. Just go to where it is listed on the computer and right click and delete. It won't delete it but it will delete from the menu. If you ever want it again just do a search for it. I hope this helps.

Windows Messenger glued with Windows XP.

You can go to Start and Run. Type Msconfig then go to Startup.

Find Windows Messenger and then uncheck it.

This will completely remove Windows Messenger from your computer. Go to Start>run> and insert this: "RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir \INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove"
Press Enter. Windows Messenger is no more.

You can go to any one of a number of sites and download "Shoot the Messenger"... it's a good FREE program that works!
I used the following URL at PCWorld:

under "upload/get rid of" its indexed interior the area "added homestead windows factors". you may get rid of it from there. yet another determination is to unselect it on "default get entry to applications" You cant get rid of the document devoid of messing up the gadget yet can end it from working. in case you're bearing on "MSN Messenger" it particularly is the only which would be uninstalled. homestead windows messenger not as its area of the gadget. There are a pair utilities accessible to get rid of it, besides, google for them.
