The current conception of Hell is a fairly unbiblical idea.
Roughly speaking, there are two major ideas translated as "hell" to be found in the Bible. The first is Sheol (Hebrew), aka Hades (Greek) which is a general word meaning the underworld, or the realm of the dead. Sheol, in the Old Testament, is always used in a negative sense as someplace to be feared, someplace where the dead cannot give praise to the Lord, someplace disgraceful. But it is never, never portrayed as the fiery torture pit that people imagine when they think of hell. Elsewhere in the Bible, when some people such as Moses die, they are not said to go to Sheol but rather to be "gathered to their fathers" or "sleep with their ancestors" or similar phrases. There does not seem to be any sort of real, disembodied existence or dwelling with God after death, but, at best, posthumous honor. In any case, there seems to be no clear distinction between good and bad places to go when you die, but rather you just die and you can either die and be buried with honor, or die and be buried with disgrace. Whatever consciousness there may be, however pleasant/honorable or unpleasant/disgraceful it may be, is extremely vague and foggy.
However, Sheol is only temporary. At the Resurrection of the dead on the Lord's Day, everyone will rise up again in a new, spiritual body. Then they will be judged, and some will sit at the Lord's table in a place of honor, others will be cast into "Gehenna." Gehenna was a garbage pit outside of Jerusalem where pagans had formerly offered child sacrifice by fire. It is understood to be the place where there is "weeping and gnashing of teeth." However, this place is not to be understood as physical torture but rather separation from God and the shame of His judgment.

Hell
Definition: The word “hell” is found in many Bible translations. In the same verses other translations read “the grave,” “the world of the dead,” and so forth. Other Bibles simply transliterate the original-language words that are sometimes rendered “hell”; that is, they express them with the letters of our alphabet but leave the words untranslated. What are those words? The Hebrew she’ohl′ and its Greek equivalent hai′des, which refer, not to an individual burial place, but to the common grave of dead mankind; also the Greek ge′en·na, which is used as a symbol of eternal destruction. However, both in Christendom and in many non-Christian religions it is taught that hell is a place inhabited by demons and where the wicked, after death, are punished (and some believe that this is with torment).
Does the Bible indicate whether the dead experience pain?
Eccl. 9:5, 10: “The living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all . . . All that your hand finds to do, do with your very power, for there is no work nor devising nor knowledge nor wisdom in Sheol,* the place to which you are going.” (If they are conscious of nothing, they obviously feel no pain.) (*“Sheol,” AS, RS, NE, JB; “the grave,” KJ, Kx; “hell,” Dy; “the world of the dead,” TEV.)
Ps. 146:4: “His spirit goes out, he goes back to his ground; in that day his thoughts* do perish.” (*“Thoughts,” KJ, 145:4 in Dy; “schemes,” JB; “plans,” RS, TEV.)
Does the Bible indicate that the soul survives the death of the body?
Ezek. 18:4: “The soul* that is sinning—it itself will die.”

Check in the New Testament, there are moments where Jesus is forced to dispute Satan who tries to tempt Him. In some gospels it will say how Christ tells his disciples how after He is crucified, He will have to spend time in the heart of the earth; or basically Hell.
here's a search link....

Type in hell and you'll get every single instance where scripture backs it up.

Does hell exist? Yes, to some degree. Read the newspaper, it's chock-full of evidence. Murder, rape, bombings, floods...
All the proof you need.
As for the fairy-tale accounts of hell, complete with ghosts and goblins - no. It's just highly-colored nonsense.
Scripture does not equal 'evidence'.
