i was in DEP for a year because i was still in high school. if i remember correctly, i went to MEPS and got sworn in and all of that before i was in DEP. then when it is time for you to ship out to basic, you go back to MEPS but dont do a full physical. one thing you should take advantage of while in DEP is getting promoted. there is a list of things you have to complete, like pass a PT test, know first aid, know the phonetic alphabet, army time, etc. if you complete all tasks you get promoted one rank. and if they are still doing it, if you get someone to join the army you can get promoted another rank. so you would come in the army as a PFC. you get more respect at basic from the drill sgts and you have a heads up because you know some basic army knowledge, and you get paid more. your recruiter would have to test you on all of these things.

First...you go through MEPS. There, you will undergo a physical exam and ASVAB testing to establish suitability. Afterwards, you will take the oath of allegiance. Now...this "magic document" you speak of must be referring to your enlistment contract. Once you sign the your enlistment documents, you can be entered into the Delayed Entry Program to await your shipping date. Another tidbit of information is this...you are NOT legally obligated to the military until you ship. In other words, you can always change your mind before getting on that plane by changing military services or not going at all. But not all recruiters will admit to that.

"Magic document" what is that? I am a recruiter and I never heard that one. DEP or Future Soldier program is apart of your contract and you will not be considered a FS until then. But in the mean time, you are aloud to attend any FS Functions that your recruiter is apart of. Get with your recruiter for more details.

No. You must go to MEPS for your testing and physical exam. If qualified you might, or might not, be placed into DEP depending on the jobs you are offered.

Its for people that want to enlist, but are unable to do it at the exact moment or that need to do something before they enlist. Basically, you sign your enlistment contract and when the times up, they ship you to BT.
