Sleep, sleep, & sleep. Eat, eat, & eat--mainly carrots sticks, celery sticks and raisins. Brush your teeth a lot--a clean feeling mouth discourages smoking. Avoid situations that you always lit up--talking on phone, etc. Take heart, as each day you can stay off, the easier it gets. At first, smoking was all I could think about--I just tried to get through it one day at a time. After two weeks or so, I didn't think about nearly as much. It's been 20 yrs now--I hate the smell of smoke and everything about it. Good Luck to you.

in all of my attempts...you think about it, you worry about it, wonder if just one will help you get over the edge....then, you turn it over to your higher power (in my case God) ask for help, buy a small make-up bag, and fill it with stuff-tooth brush, and paste, tooth picks (plaqers are great) gum, mints, and a "special" candy for those really tough times. don't put any kind that will melt...altoids are good, life savers, apple/carmel lolli pops, you get the idea.
my dad quit over 10 years ago, and my mom quit a little over 8. I pray every day that I have the strength, wisdom, and will power to do the same! my children are getting to the ages that it bothers them to see me smoking, and them smelling like smoke (no matter how hard I try to keep it away from them, it gets everywhere!!) i've tried "almost" everything!
good luck, and let the rest of us outcasts in on the secret!!!

I've been bombarded with classes and internships, and I haven't had a cigarette since New Years Day. I usually just keep busy and try not to find time to smoke, after about a month I became one of those people that get annoyed by the smell of smoke. :P

Try chewing gum or having a sip of water. Also try to remember why you gave up and how much money you're saving.Save the money you'd spend on cigarettes in a jar and when your down take the money and buy yourself something nice!

The things that helped my dramatically were these little candies called Breath Savers...very yummy...and helped me get through the cravings. I also heard of wearing a rubber band on your writst and everytime you get a craving snap it...not sure if it works though...Good for you for quitting smoking!!! You'll thank yourself later...it gets easier and easier everyday!

Think about the bad ways you can die because of it, read, listen to music, write a song, poem, book, buy the patch i think that might help, the gum, and maybe you could play video games.
