tell him you like him, that would be the best present he could get, and/or ask him out. good luck
but if you dont want to tell him get him a sentimental present, not too expensive, and get something that will really catch his eye.

get him something so that he knows you exist and that you remembered that it was his birthday just don't give him something corny
