I have not read or seen the DVD and don't plan on it due to some of the reviews I have read. It appears that this material is marketed towards the lazy, materialistic, and wishful thinking types. The "secret" is not a new concept. It has been published before in many other type of self-help books. However, the "secret seems to be more geared towards gaining wealth and other materialistic needs as opposed to helping humanity. I would just like to hear your thoughts on this seemingly overated book/DVD.

I think you should read it/see it for yourself - so you can form your own opinion. But....
The "secret" is "the law of atraction" - and I think it's great for people who have never heard of the "law of attraction' before now. Oprah had several people from the film on her show - and she said "I've known the Secret forever - but I just didn't know it had a name." A lot of people live their lives according to the law of attraction.
There are parts of it that are very materialistic. But you know - I have some very spiritual friends who go after wealth - simply so they can do good with it. So really - the two things (wealth and humanity) can go hand in hand.
As for the "wishful thinking types" - I believe they latch onto stuff like this. However, it will only work for them if they stop "wishing." You have to really believe.
As for the lazy. There is no way this book/film/logic will work for lazy people. There's a lot of work involved in controlling your own mind, believe it or not.
This philosophy is very much like what's taught in my church (I'm a Religious Scientist) so it's nothing new to me. The philosophy has been around forever - and it's a good one. "Change your thinking - change your life!" But now that it's in the media - people are finding things about it to criticize. Sigh.

The reason many are talking about it is it brings hope joy and happiness into open minded peoples lives- how can that be a neagative thing?
I read the book have the DVD and cd.... it is working!

you need to be positive and check it out for yourself hope this helps
it is a tool to use for many things the greedy will concentrate on money while others will center these teachings on health, and relationships - but it works for all consider this... only the negative folks will find fault- try it for yourself what do you have to loose?

It's a bit like the Da Vinci Code, when that first came out, only the Secret has a different effect. People will do anything to follow some sort of thing that looks entertaining, and others will do anything to make it look super-serious so they can make money out of it. The Secret is one of those Discovery-like things that groups together info in a documentary. Definitely Da Vinci Code style, without the angry Opus Dei banning the book.
