Fitted dress/skirts are not flattering to a thicker body. A-line dress/skirts are the most flattering for ladies with curves. If you are considering two-pieces, maybe you can have your girls wear the same A-line skirt and let them pick their tops that are in the same color that you choose. Usually David's Bridal is a really good store that offers that and also Impressions (check your local formal wear stores to see if they offer Impressions).

An A-line skirt is a great solution, Something people often over look is fabric. Don't get anything that clings, look for fabrics that hold the dress shape. If you go to www.dessy.com and look at style 2015 this dress looks great on chubby girls and many of them like the way they look in it. If you don't like that particular dress, look for a dress with a similar silhouette ( dresses with this silhouette work well for wedding parties with girls of all shapes and sizes). Also at the same site an after six dress style 6220 is also a good choice. And many Bridesmaid dress companies have styles similar to the two I listed.

A-line and empire dresses are the best for full figured women. A-line dresses lengthens the whole body without drawing attention to the waistline and empire dresses are narrowest just below the bust and conceals waists and hips. Also, if they are subconscious about their arms, a jacket or wrap would be best if you go with a sleeveless dress. I would recommend shopping with your girls and picking something out together. This way you can find something that you like but they also feel comfortable in wearing. In addition to David's Bridal, The Knot also features different wedding dresses.

my wedding was last summer. Two of three bridesmaides were on the chubby side. I had two piece dresses made for everyone. The thinner one had a strapless top. One had a thick strapped tank style top and the other had a tank top style top. All skirts matched but they chose the tops, which were all made from the same material. It looked great and everyone was comfortable.

Like everyone said, A-Line gowns will look pretty on a bigger girl.
Ballgowns are also a big help on hiding a bigger bottom. When dealing with large bosoms, a conservative v-neck will help, or a portrait neckline that covers all of her voluptuousness will keep the eyes off her *ahem* well endowed areas.
Separates are also helpful, and make sure that you don't purchase satin or silk, as both are very "unforgiving" materials.
Congrats!

Look at this link to David's Bridal:

These dresses look great on any size. The strapless allows you to focus jewelry and hair and the wrap lets you hide heavy arms while still carrying a bouquet. It comes in a lot of colors and is on sale for $99.00! Because it's plain and flares out somewhat below the waist, it draws attraction to the face and hair. Because it's long, it also hides heavy calves and ankles and you don't have to worry about matching shoes. My best friend (who is beautiful and heavier) wore this (as did I) in a wedding and we both loved it. Best Wishes!
Also, for jewelry that won't break the bank, look at
www.sammoon.com. They have stuff that looks great on, but isn't expensive at all.

depends what their body shape is.....i saw a lady who was pretty chubby but she looked gorgeous in a princess cut dress...it was like a corset ribbed top half which shaped her torso down to her navel and the rest of the material flowed, instead of shiney material use chiffon or silk.....anything shiney will make them look round and big...something like chiffon will be elegant and drop to the gound elegantly and give a curvier effect....use long gowns and straps for the shoulder...no fluffy designs....clean cutsand deeper darker colours..btw its good to have fitted dresses but make sure that they arent too fitted cos you dont want to have them look like they're 'spilling' out of them. Using a wrap that compliments the dress would really help...perhaps if you all went looking for the perfect thing together you will find the perfect answer!
hope that helped!

My neice was the maid of honor and she's 300 lbs. The A-line is a good choice. We had a friend make her dress using a catalog from the fabric store and buying material and zipper and thread. A friend had sewn the dress for her and it was great.

Here are a couple websites you might be interested in. One is a prom dress site, but the dresses can be worn in a wedding. Congrats and I hope the sites help.
