Well. I'm 16 and have been taking voice for a couple years now.. I hope this helps...

Breathing:
Here's an exercise for ya:
1) Breathe in silently for a count of 4 (like...4 beats)
2) Hold that breath for a count of 2
3) Hiss out breath for a count of 8 (Hiss like.. Through your teeth almost)
4)Breathe/Sigh out (you're bound to have air left over)
5) Repeat steps 1-2, but on step 3, increase the count by two. (ie: the second time, hiss for 10, the third time hiss for 12, etc.)

Remember to be able to Breathe Out! Do not go to end of your air supply. Have fun with it, and see how many beats you can do, but be careful as well.

This exercise is meant to help with holding out longer notes. You'll get alot of that in sining Italian Arias and whatnot... I'm not sure what kind of music you like to sing, but either way, this will help.

Singing:
Have a keyboard/piano? Great.
Do some normal scales, but instead of singing on a vowel (like Oo, or Ah) sing with your mouth slightly closed so your lips are touching each other. When you sing a note, the air moving through your mouth and lips should make your lips bump up and down together making a noise somewhat similar to a horse (ha, not a neighing sound but that sighing like sound they make sometimes). In doing this exercise, you get a better veiw of what your range is like. You don't have to worry about making a pretty sound, you just have to be concerned with reaching notes and staying on pitch. And yes, this will make your nose itch!

Also, another singing tip:
Make sure when you sing you have enough space in your mouth. This may seem silly, but for a test, put your index and middle finger together, and place them vertically inbetween your top and bottom teeth. That space is the Minimum of the space you want to be able to sing. I was skeptical of this too, but a more open mouth makes for very beautiful singing. :)

Good Luck, and i hope this helped.

Hey
ok this is a trick we use in chours so you breathe in for 8 beats and breathe out in 8 beats then breathe in on 8 out on on 4 then in on 8 out on 1
then you could go in on 4 and so on it really helps
also do warm ups like mama made me mash my m -n- m's and drink a cappichino
always stand up straight almost like ur sticking out your boobs a little lol GOOD LUCK!!

go to a quiet room and practice and remenber to listen to yourself by listening to headphones but one ear has to music going to. the ear that has no ear phone on is to listen to your voice singing. when your listening to your voice in a quiet room then you can get a better idea on what you need to improve on. also remenber to always practice. =) im gonna join A.S(aztec singers)
