Most libraries love for people to volunteer and create programs like a story time. Talk to your local librarian and he/she should be able to direct you.

First, put your ideas in writing...like a simple proposal to include what you intend to do - how long is the story time? how many days a week will you do this? who is your target audience (ages)? who will choose the book? etc., etc.

Then you go talk with the head librarian.........most likely, she'll say something like "That's a good idea but I got to think more about it...I have to ask the Board,..blah, blah, blah."

Now, you say "Thank you so much for listening. I have prepared this program summary and I hope you'd give this matter a second look." Now hand your proposal to her/him.

Good Luck!
