Atheism is a very general system of beliefs that denies the exsistance of supernatural deities. It is the opposite of Theism which approves the exsistance of supernatural deities. It's not just God, just anything that seems "farfetched."

But Atheism is ALSO a religion.

Religion:
1. a set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of the universe.
2. a specific fundamental set of beliefs and practices generally agreed upon by a number of persons or sects.
3. the body of persons adhering to a particular set of beliefs and practices.
4. the life or state of a monk, nun, etc.
5. the practice of religious beliefs; ritual observance of faith.
6. something one believes in and follows devotedly; a point or matter of ethics or conscience.

Anything that has to do with morality, rituals, beliefs or observances are considered "religions".

If an Atheist or an Agnostic person would say "I don't believe in Religion" They'd be stating a paradoxal statement.

The great thing about Theism and Atheism is that neither of them know if they are right or wrong, so who is to say who is denying things when nobody truly knows? In that sense, the Atheists are more accepting of this, and the Theists tell us that God does not mean for us to know. So, who is right?

We just don't feel the need to gather in groups and ask for stuff from some great big lie coated in candy so the masses can be entertained, so they don't kill each other and destroy society, because they have to be told something exists after this retched life in a fleshy prison, or they can't go on or function they would be blowing their brains out left and right, because without an afterlife of candy and virgins they would have nothing to live for.

Actually, there's a lot more to it than that. There's secret handshakes, underground lairs and monthly meetings where we discuss how to control the Shadow Government and plant fake fossils and falsify scientific evidence, which is actually the boring part of the meetings...
Then there's pot luck dinners where everyone brings their own fetuses and virgin blood, and of course there's the annual Bible burning contest. Last year's winner burned 190 in just under 2 minutes! You should have seen those green flames roar!

As many said atheism is nothing more than a lack of a particular kind of belief. A belief in one or more gods.

But for myself it is something more. It's a relief from religious demands, burden, hypocracy, lies and self imposed supremacy.
I'm so happy that I don't still buy into all this bunk.

That's all it is. This is why the term is pretty useless. I believe in science and reason, open societies, and rule of law, among other things. The fact that I don't believe in God is largely irrelevant to who I am except that belief in God is enormously important and central to the lives of other people so this fact of my nature is viewed as strange alarming and possible evil

Theism means having a belief in the existence of a god or gods. Atheism is the negation of theism. That's all there is to it.

I hate that "denying" word, IMO it's so rude and of course that is what ALL the dictionary definitions have to use...

I just don't believe in gods or any other beings like that. That's it.
