My boyfriend broke up with me this week. Our relationship was superb and we still love each other but he suddenly did not feel as committed to the long distance relationship as he use to be. He told me immediately and broke up with me as gently as possible. He wants to continue being a big part of my life. I still want him back and don't know how to treat him. I just moved to a new town and have no friends there and am scared to go out alone. He was the one I spent my free time with or thinking about. How do I manage to stay friends with him when I want more and am starting alone in a new town 2 hours away?

There's nothing really that you can do besides move closer to him.

"I don't feel committed to the long distance relationship but want to remain a big part of your life" is code for "I am screwing someone else but want to keep you dangling".
Wake up, honey. Don't let him keep you dangling. Don't make any efforts to stay friends with him. You have been way too dependent on him in the past. Now is the time to make a fresh new start in a new place. Get involved in some new activities, volunteer somewhere, join a sports club, take a class, whatever interests you, This will help you make new friends and build a future for yourself that you can feel confident about.

To be honest you will still want him back for a long time but now this is your time. You need to be strong and if he still loves you he might realise that he has made a big mistake. Absence makes the heart grow stronger.

You said that you spent all your free time with him but maybe you need to spend it with your girl friends. Your friends always make you feel better. They know you best.

Give it time and get yourself happy again and maybe in the long run you both might get back together or there is a possibility that you will find someone else who wants to spend their entire life with you.

Stay strong and good luck. It's an awful feeling and a crap situation but concentrate on your happiness.

I think that even though you still care about your ex you should try and to move on to someone else that you care about more and maybe cares about you more, especially if you moved, there are other fish in the sea.
