Family is the backbone of society.... a Strong family connection can be just as important as a good education..... plan ahead, tell the teachers, get his/her schoolwork so you can spend some time making up what your child missed, and then have a great time with your family.

Yes one day off is not a big thing, he wont miss much in one day (unless you already know its a special day, like an exam day). You dont say the age but if Primary def no an issue at all, as you learn fundamentals like reading and writing but its not important beyond that in the way the GCSE years are, when every day is important but even then you could catch up if only one day (or one or two for tht matter) etc.... You only get one life id let your child go to the family thing, theyl enjoy an authorised day off while all their friends are in school, a kind of treat.....just dont bother to ask the school for permission as the new policy is zero time off unles practically dying lol, just ring in sick on the day and provide a note when they go bck or whatever the absence procedure is at your child's school!

Letting your child miss a day without a good medical reason is against all that the Government stand for as regards Education.
If you allow this, the precedent is set for more and more days that will be considered all right to miss because they are for a family affair!
Force your child into school and don't let them have any sort of fun with relations as this undermines the very fabric of our society!
OR THE REAL ANSWER IS - 1 DAY WONT MATTER EVEN SLIGHTLY. MY KIDS HAVE MISSED A WEEK BECAUSE WE WERE AWAY ON HOLIDAY BEFORE THE SCHOOL HOLIDAYS
STARTED!
RELAX AND TAKE THE TIME, YOU NEVER KNOW YOU MAY ALL ENJOY YOURSELVES!

Yes!
I think a lot of people get carried away with their kids and the whole education thing. It's important that children grow up with a sense of family responsibility and that they learn to behave and enjoy the company of older people. This is as important as academic education and cannot be learnt in school.

Family very important!
He can always catch up on the work he missed but never on the family in the future he missed (if you get what I mean?)
Tell the school it is and that's it! No if's or buts

Absolutely. My child misses a lot of schooling through health problems, for hospital appointments and so on. Yet he is still academically way ahead of his year group. So I would say that one days missed lessons is insignificant. Speak to his/her teacher and I'm sure they will be happy to allow one missed day. (better that his school know where he is, rather than expect him/her to lie to them about a fictitious illness or such like!)

One day is not affect nothing. I did the same for christmas for my son. He miss one day in the school. But first I check it was not test for that day. I reccomended to do that, also send a note to the teacher. You need to be responsible. Also after the vacation let your son ask his friends about the homeworks for that day he was missing. That way he lear to be resposible. He was absent , but also he's making that day.

if he's a good student and can make up the work, or if it's something important then yeah. why not? i never would have done it myself in the past but when my sis was diagnosed with cancer she asked if my son could skip school one day and all of us go to the zoo. it was one day and it made her feel so much better. i'd do it again if i could. that one day isn't going to hurt the child one bit.
