It's the time of year, dry air is one of the culprits. Cold temperatures plus dry air inside is another. Static electricity in clothes and bed linens cause static in your hair. If you spray your hair brush with Static Guard, and also spray your coat, sweaters, etc. you'll have much less of a problem. ALso, use fabric softener LIQUID in the wash at this time of the year, and for knit sweaters, afghans, etc. When in a bind, I put hand lotion on my hands (just a little!), rub it into my hands well, and then run it over my hair to take the static out. Good luck.

I dunno about why, but can give you a quick fix, that you can use anytime, anywhere, with ease!
Just carry a new unused dryer sheet. Run it over your hair when the flyaways start, and presto, no static! This works great with panty hose and skirts! Better than lotion, cause there is no buld up on the hair! Smells great also!
