If you mean by 50 cows that there will be 50 milking, plus some younger ones, you can figure an average herd to milk around 3500-4000 lbs every other day. Here in the northeast the milk price is close to 15.00/CWT (100#) so the average monthly check before any reductions will be around $10000.

Figure it out for yourself. Find out the 'average' output from the 'heifer' (not a breed, by the way, but a 'cow' who hasn't 'given birth yet') of the right 'breed' ... then multiply that amount by 50 and multiply the 'gallon rate' LandOLakes pays and multiply that by the 'answer' to your first multiplication problem. This will be his 'monthy pay' if he owns only 50 'producing cows' before his 'expenses.'

How much milk does he get per cow per milking and how many milkings per day?
The milk from 50 cows is not going to be enough for a family to live on.
Lets assume he gets 2 gallons of milk per cow per day.
Thats going to be appx $2 per cow per day income... $100 a day. $3000 a month.
Land-o-Lakes will process the milk, pasturizing, homoginizing and separating into butter, cheese... etc.... paying 50% of the shelf price to the farmer is pretty darn good.
The cows will need to be supplied hay and salt licks and vet visits and innoculations and then there't the farmer's milking equipment maintenance... At $3000 a month Gross in from the dairy distributor, he'll be lucky to net $1000 a month.

I know a dairy farmer. He has more than 50 cows though. He does very well, not sure about how much money, but in terms of vehicles he's got a nice big truck, his wife has a nice used Cadillac, and his kid has a VW bug.

sure. have they have been given a minimum stability you're able to shop? you are going to be able to could substitute the shape of checking account you have. some banks won't charge a month-to-month fee in case you have a undeniable stability or direct deposit, something like that. Then there are economic equipment checking, ect...i might communicate with the recent account rep to work out what techniques you have.
