that's a very interesting question, since what is life as we know it, anyhow? is it a world that has 6,000,000,000 people on it that is growing by leaps and bounds, many of whom cannot care for themselves? (think: if not for politics, this earth is so abundant in resources that triple that number of people could be adequately housed, clothed, doctored, fed, and educated--if not for politics...)

all right. the maya people, none of whom are alive today, were the best timekeepers ever in human civilization. they watched the stars. they made the most accurate calendars that we know of. they predicted that the end of the world, not of life, as we know it, will occur in december 2012.

it's so curious because many meteorologists predict horrific storms, like those never documented in our history, to occur in 2011. these scientists are NOT the ones that take grant money. these are the ones that say that global warming is due to natural trends and that CO2 is not contributing much at all to global warming. they also do not agree that global warming will cause climate change. so these experts--those that refuse to take any money from any cause or agency or company--do, though, state that in 2011, something related to the weather will create havoc. now then, what might that be?

the hopi indians, which is an old tribe, also predict that the world as we know it will end in 2012. that is not far away! okay, we see all these weather disaster shows on tv, so what could happen? the hopis say that in 2012, not 2011, three major earthquakes will all occur at the same time, and they will be more powerful than our richter scale can measure. if they all happened at one time along major fault lines, that really COULD alter weather to the extent that the planet will have a hard time feeding all of its inhabitants.

do you think, perhaps, that all the underground nuclear testing that is now occurring and will occur more in the future (read up on the new build ups of russia and the usa), contribute to the weakening of already dangerous fault lines? the japanese had an earthquake a few days after north korea set off a thermonuclear bomb underground. there was a small amount of speculation that it was caused by the underground blast.

you know that earthquakes in the ocean cause tsunamis. if they inundate cities with sea water, it will be disasterous, yes, but which cities? if new york, with major stock markets, were to be severely damaged, then, if the stock markets do not open for a long time, all the world's economies, that depend on the us dollar, will collapse into major depressions.

i do know that if the entire san andreas fault collapsed that part of california would fall into the ocean, a large part of it. should that happen, the tsunami created would wash over the entire pacific ocean, completely over japan, killing all, hit mainland china, killing so many, then travel back across the pacific again to hit what's left of the west coast, going east to about wyoming.

if it is certain that ice melting too quickly from greenland desalinates the atlantic, causing a change in ocean currents, then great britain, germany, and france will have such severe climate changes that food will stop growing and the people will war in the street for what is left. for sure, too, all ocean life would be adversely affected, and who knows what afteraffects that will have upon fishing?

everything that lives on our planet contributes something to the food chain, which comes down to what feeds us. if--i hope my great, great, great grandchildren even do not see this--the two caldera filled with magma that lie beneath yellowstone national park blow, kiss your bottom goodbye! kiss it all goodbye. the survivors would be quite busy killing one another for an once of food or water.

there are many end of the world scenarios and i could go on, but i'm sure you know of them. the maya did not predict what signs we will see to know it's coming, only the hopi.

i'm just curious why you placed this question into this particular forum category. how does it relate to dating, or to single people? are you referring to reproduction? i sure don't know how mammals will feed their young if we blow off so many bombs that we irradiate the earth! i don't even know if animals would carry their young to full term, meaning that so many would die, which in turn would turn the food chain upside down.

another thing that many don't know: if bees were to all die, forget about eating. do you know how many plants they cross pollinate? even the hairs of an ear of corn are pollinated by bees.

of course, you may have raised this question in the section dealing with RELIGION! man, you sure would get a heck of a lot of answers! that joint jumps over there! do you know, too, how many returns you will get every day if you put the keyword "hate" into google? you will get about 250,000,000 of them! i wonder how many in comparison you'd get if you put in the word "love?"

if jihad continues, and terrorism grows along with the population from which it stems (no racism intended here, but it's true), then the hatred inside of the politics of those maniacs will certainly get you DEAD. you, me, everyone other than them, are to be KILLED--not put into concentration camps, but KILLED, for we are "the infidel." oh, c'mon! how far will religious differences go?

the way i figure it, we never know what is going to happen to us. we may as well take this moment as the last one that we have, and love all we can in it, each day that we have moments. we really should love our mother earth so much more, since i do not know of any planet out there (do you?) that will provide sustanance to us, all on its own...

we should live for now and we should love for now, leaving the garbage of hate and killing and intemprance, impatience, and intolerance behind us. for it's true that humankind is just of one set of genes: human genes.
