Once upon a time some preacher got this great idea: hey, if we go and let them roll their easter eggs, we can get them into church and convert those pagans. Well, they got them to come to the church alright, but the question is, who converted whom??
Today, churches still participate in rolling eggs, and to add insult to injury, they bring in their "quick as a bunny". This was a fertility rite and not scriptural by any sense. Who is a real Christian if not Jesus Christ Himself? What did he celebrate at that time of year? Passover.
But one mis-translation, one time in the Book of Acts, and oh boy, they just grabbed that one and ran with it...Its a disgrace and an insult that on the highest day of Christianity, when Christ gave himself to mockery, torture and death, they have the nerve to roll eggs.
I do not celebrate Ishtar,(easter), I am a Christian and I celebrate the Passover.
I do not celebrate those other days, except for Christmas - why? Because the Christmas tree is a symbol of our father, who is often referred to as a great evergreen tree, never changing.
The world will pass away, but His word will not pass away. Just like the evergreen. December 25 was not the birth day of Christ, but it was the conception of the Christ Child.

I am a Christian and I do not celebrate pagan holidays. I do not celebrate Halloween or Mardi Gras (yes I live in Lousiana). The others are not necessarily pagan holidays. We celebrate Valentines because it another opportunity to express love to our friends and families, Christmas we do in remembrance of Christ's birth (even though we do not know exactly when it is). St.Patrick's day pretty much comes and goes in our house unnoticed. We do not celebrate any holidays with partying and getting drunk. Not everyone's idea of celebrating is an unclean event.
BTW: Halloween is a pagan holiday as a person will se eif the research the origins of halloween.

I dont celebrate those pagan holidays. On Halloween we have a Harvest Festival at church with Christian theme rides and candy. No witch or scary costumes, most dress up as bible characters, just so that we have fun too. Im not from Jewish decent so I dont really have any holidays. But Im american and we just make a day not to celebrate paganism but just to have some fun. We take the paganism out. Its not a sin to celebrate anyday as long as we are glorifying God and not false or pagan gods.

Christmas isn't Saturnalia. They have been celebrated on distinctive days. you're thinking of the day committed to Sol Invictus, which replaced into invented with the help of the Romans *after* Christmas replaced into an everyday holiday between Roman Christians. there is actual no connection between Easter and any pagan holiday. verify your supplies. And whoever gave Nightwind a thumbs-down is an fool. She is actual suitable in her answer.

For the same reason that atheists celebrate the same holidays. Tradition. I am a Christian and celebrate Christmas with the gift giving and all that but do not celebrate it as the day of Christs birth. According to history, it is not. He was born in the spring of the year.

St. Patricks day and Halloween aren't pagan...they are just traditional "festivals". Anyway, I assume your question is "how can they believe in Jesus and celebrate pagan holidays"...well, Christianity usurped pagan holidays when they began to convert the masses....its much easier to alter someone's behavior than it is to stop it.

They arent bad the only bad one is Halloween cause thats celebrating satan
the "christhians" that celebrate Halloween are problably not christhians( even though they say they are)
Look christmas is nothing bad depends on how you celebrate it if you celebrate it with santa clause than its bad but if you celebrate it as the birth of Jesus than it isnt.
Valentines day isnt bad either depends also on how you celebrate it we real christians celebrate it as a friendship day but for couples that are married they celebrate it as love day
Halloween is bad in all ways cause its satans day
St. Patrick depends also we really dont do almost anything that day
and ..
New Years is nothing bad its just celebrating the begining of another year

These are not Pagan holidays. They are on dates that a Pagan holiday used to be on. Emperor Constatine coverted the holiday on December 25th to a Christian holiday in an effort to ease the Roman empire into Christianity. Either way it doesn't matter what date these holiday's fall on, it's what the meaning is to you.
