Yes everything created had to have a cause, but God is not a created being. God is the uncaused Cause of everything.

One needs to have a formalized understanding of logic and philosophy to understand the topic of God's existence. Here is a starting point:

Premise: Every event has a cause
Premise: The universe has a beginning
Premise: All beginnings involve an event

Inference: This implies that the beginning of the universe involved an event
Inference: Therefore the beginning of the universe had a cause
Conclusion: The universe had a cause

For something to have caused the universe it must have existed outside of the universe and time. That First Cause could only have been an omnipotent supernatural agent, God.

Another argument is one from design:

1. The universe began to exist
2. The universe has complexity, order and fine-tuning
3. Complexity, order and fine-tuning imply design
4. Design that began to exist implies a designer
5. Therefore, the universe has a designer

Premise 1: See Big Bang theorem (Hawking, Penrose) All matter and time itself began at this moment
Premise 2: Universe has complex designs, e.g, cellular DNA, Laws of Physics, fine-tuning for life on earth, etc.
Premise 3: Nothing ordered can come from chaos, an orderer is required. Laws of Nature are often cited as counterexamples, yet these very Laws are themselves ordered.

Premise 4: Self evident. If something did not exist, there is no beginner or designer

Thus, the universe has a designer, God.

God exists outside the notion of time and the universe is contingent on God's expression for its existence. God is timeless, in that he sees the passage of temporal time as you or I see a range of mountains far in the distance. At this distance the range of mountains seems to be one continuous line, yet as we get closer we see then mountains separated by miles and miles. God sees everything in the "eternal now". Hence, time does not "pass" for God.

Everything created God.

2007-03-02 11:52:50 · answer #3 · answered by Anonymous · 0 0

This is what makes God God... He was not created or made, He just simply alway has and always will exsist. God has never changed, and never will. Let's "say" that someone/thing did create God.. then whe created that someone/thing?.. The question can just keep going and going. There has to be an uncaused first cause, to cause the first cause.. meaning.. There has to be something that was not created and that has always exsisted in order to create the first creation, which was the earth, according to Genesis 1:1

Who says He had to be created?
The reason I am asking is because God says He has always existed, He is the "I AM" , meaning He has always been.
I don't know how it works and frankly I think if God explained it to me it would be too much for me to understand in this human state of being.
Which is why I suppose God has chosen not to explain this part of Himself.

If that's the top reason, then you don't believe in the universe either - because, the whole 'Big bang' story sounds just as ridiculous as any other. I mean, what was before that? It is easy not to believe in God because one won't except that he is beyond time. OK, but let's not believe in space either. It would only be fair like that. At least religions only ask for faith, and do not call themselves 'a science' and give silly statements they call a proof!

Dear garret, i belive your question is perfectly fair, at the same time it can be easily answered. there is a Wonderful article I found that explains this. I could give you the short answer, But his article is simply magnificent, its in depth and realy egages your mind. Once you read this article I belive you will understand why your premise for being an athiest is simply fallacious. here it is.........

If everything needs a creator, then who or what created God?

This question is logically problematic. If everything needs a creator, than no matter what exists, it must have been created. Furthermore, to be created means that someone or something had to create it. But then, who created the creator and so on? Logically, this would mean there would be an infinite regression of creators and we would never be able to find the first, uncaused cause since, by definition (the questions says that "everything needs a creator") there wouldn't be any uncaused cause. This would mean that the sequence of creations is eternal. But, if it exists that there is an eternal regression of creators, then who created the infinite regression of creators? Remember, the question presupposes that all things need a creator -- even the eternal sequence of creators -- which becomes logically absurd. Furthermore, if there is an eternal regression of creators that are eternal, then the question is not answered. In fact, it cannot be answered since it weakness is that "all things need a creator." Of course, this only begs the question in that how did the process begin? Therefore, the question only raises the same problem it asks and it is a question that, by its own design, cannot be answered. Therefore, it is invalid.
The question is better phrased as a statement: "Everything that has come into existence, was brought into existence by something else." This is a more logical statement and is not wrought with the difficulties of the initial question. In the revised statement "Everything that has come into existence," implies that the thing that "has come into existence" did not already exist. If it did not already exist but then came into existence, then something had to bring it into existence because something that does not exist cannot bring itself into existence (a logical absolute). This pushes the regression of creators back to what we would call the theoretical "uncaused cause" since there cannot be an infinite regression of creators as discussed above and since in infinite number of creators would mean there was an infinite number of creations and created things including things that cannot be destroyed since they would constitute things that exist. If that is so, then the universe would have had an infinite number of created things in it and it would be full. But it is not full. Therefore, there has not been an infinite regression of creations.
By definition, the Christian God never came into existence; that is, He is the uncaused cause (Psalm 90:2). He was always in existence and He is the one who created space, time, and matter. This means that the Christian God is the uncaused cause and is the ultimate creator. This eliminates the infinite regression problem.
But some may ask, "But who created God?" But the answer is that by definition He is not created; He is eternal. He is the One who brought time, space, and matter into existence. Since the concept of causality deals with space, time, and matter, and since God is one who brought space, time, and matter into existence, the concept of causality does not apply to God since it is something related to the reality of space, time, and matter. Since God is before space, time, and matter, the issue of causality does not apply to Him.

Why did he have to be created? He says he always was there. That's good enough for me.
Its really a side issue though. You don't want to accept that you are a sinner in need of salvation. Don't pretend the reason is that you don't know where God came from.

If I Only Had A Dollar...

You get two kids on a schoolyard, and one tells the other about this cool new toy that he got. The second one lies through his teeth and one-ups the first kid, going into great detail to make himself feel more superior.

God was created to explain the things that people were too ignorant to comprehend and too egotistical to admit not knowing about. Now God is the most convenient excuse for everything, and is poison for the weak-willed.

I know it makes just about as much sense as the idea that the universe simply appeared. I don't know that God was ever created. He himself is quoted in the Bible to say: I AM. He also describes himself as the Alpha and the Omega which means beginning and end. That question will have to be left up to the future.

logically, if god created everything, then god created itself.

assuming there is a god, the question is: did god truly create everything?

of course, many people will not assume there is a god, including me.
