I'm making stuffed steak with creamy cheesey spinach. I ran out of kitchen string, to keep the steak in rolls. I do, however, have some toothpicks (not the pointy ones, the straight edged ones, which will take a lot of poking to get through into steak). You think toothpicks are durable for the thickness of steak? I'm so unsure. I don't even have some sewing thread. My only option is toothpicks. Darn it, if I only had the sharped ones.

Those are great ides, but I only have toothpicks! Anything I can do to make 'em secure?

Try it with toothpicks! Just use a bunch! :) Or, if you have any unwaxed, unflavored dental floss, that will work, too...
Sounds yummy, though - I'll have to find a recipe!

Sorry, but I'm pretty sure that toothpicks won't do. Steak is tough as it is. One thing you could do is use some twine, boiled first, and not the stuff that has been embedded in mud and other stuff! But, toothpicks won't work.

I wouldn't recommend it. Your going to create holes in your meat, causing it to lose moisture and make a very dry steak.

Use a sharp knife..or better yet a kabob skewer....to poke a hole before inserting the pick.
