I've got a bunch of records coming up from far and wide on an alternate spelling of BRANDEBERRY. They emigrated from Hawaii, Cuba, Guam, Algeria, Tunisia, Germany (Thuringer and Bavaria), England, Bermuda, and Norway.
I found (5) in the Ohio census of 1810 living in Columbiana Co.
(1) Showed up in Kansas by 1895 and within 20 years had (8) family members
(49) lived in the US in 1860 who showed up in the federal census. (29) of those were in Indiana, (4) were in Maryland, (16) in Ohio
(19) registered for the WWI draft, (17) white, (2) black
(13) served in the Civil War (all from the state of Indiana)
(173) Brandyberries were married in the State of Indiana between 1800-1941(most from Adams, Jay and Noble counties)
If you have specific people you'd like info on, just let us know their names, where they lived and approx year of birth or death.

Hey Perfect n Pink,
Family Search has 82 US entries for Brandyberry. Sometimes an unusual surname is a blessing. The Yahoo Search below has around 80 to 90 web sites that might have information for you. With those sites, you could begin collecting branches of your Family Tree, and then perform your own surname search using Vital Records to tie into work that is already done. By the way, there is a Brandyberry DNA Project with 18 participants already underway. You might consider joining that project using a male member of the surname that you are related to you (assuming you are female Perfect n Pink).

Keep in mind that US census records for people born after 1920 are not open to the public (in order to protect the living). So unless your family has been here substantially longer than since 1920, you might not find much about your family name. Or maybe at some point they changed their last name.

A lot of family names were anglosised when they immagrated to other countries. You may want to see how far back you can trace its origin through websites that deal with family crests and names.

You are lucky; you can use Google. My surname is a surname, a verb and a noun. When I google my last name I get a gazillion hits for Pack Trips (back pack and pack horse), Cub Scout Pack #xyz, and discount cigarette shops.

Go to ancestry.com. They have a free trial period which will give you long enough to look up what you need to find. It's a great site, I found tons of info on past relatives. It had old census records.
