I'm 24 years old and just recently in the past few weeks I've been periodically experiencing episodes of excruciating sharp abdominal pain in my upper stomache and it also extends into my back. I think it may be really bad trapped gas. The pain is so bad that it's crippling and I sweat and have even vomited. I don't have diarhea though. But I did realize that one time I had cappucino with milk and cream about a half hour before, and another time I had tacos with sour cream before it happened. Does this sound like it could be lactose intolerance? If so, do I have to give up all the foods I love or is there medicine I can take?

The symptoms you listed (gas, pain, sweating, vomiting) could be lactose intolerance.

You can take Lactaid (available at any drugstore) whenever you drink milk or eat cheese or other dairy products. Or, get some digestive enzymes at your local health food store.
