The egg came "second" and the chicken "first, because an egg is laid by a hen."
Since there is no reference to the creation of eggs, they presumably were then made by chickens afterwards by the normal process. Therefore, the chicken came first.
Alternatively, for those who accept the intelligent design form of creationism, Eugene Volokh has noted that "In my experience, most creationists are also pro-life -- in which case, the egg is a chicken."
In this case, the egg is assumed to be a chicken's egg. This is an obvious assumption since the question itself implies a link between the two.
If one assumes the egg to be a chicken egg then one must define what a chicken egg is:
If: A chicken egg will hatch a chicken then a bypass is allowed: An animal that was not a chicken laid the chicken egg which contained the first chicken. In this case the egg came first.
If: A chicken egg is the egg that a chicken lays then a bypass is allowed: A chicken (that hatched from a non-chicken egg) laid an egg (a chicken egg). In this case the chicken came first.
If: A chicken egg will hatch a chicken and A chicken egg is the egg that a chicken lays Then there may be an error of definition. If the definition of "chicken" used does not refer to "chicken eggs", then the chicken must come first, because without chickens there cannot be any chicken eggs.

The egg came first and the chicken very late because?
Where did the fist chicken come from?
An egg!! A pre chicken bird egg that came from some kind of dino egg long back. Witch came from a reptile egg. Wich came from.
The answer is so darn obvious that I can't see that not everybody realise it.

The egg came out of the closet and the chicken said the egg was going to hell because God hates gay eggs.

The egg came second and the chicken was first because God made all the animals FIRST, and THEN they mated, ate birdseed , and whatever else the first Adam Bok-Bok and the first Eve Chick-Chick were supposed to do. I am willing to bet there was no Birdseed of the Knowledge of Good and Evil nor a coal-black Raven trying to convince them that the forbidden Birdseed would make them learn how to fly instead of their usual gliding really well for a fair distance. "You'll not surely fall from the sky! The wind currents will catch you! Eat it! What? You CHICKEN or something?" Okay enough. Sorry 'bout that...lack of sleep does it every time.

the egg came second and the chicken came first because if the egg came first, it wouldn't have survived, it needs something to keep it warm. Eggs don't just appear out of nowhere. But chickens do. Read Genesis 1 for more info.

The egg came after and the chicken before, because the egg would not have survived without it's parent. The egg needed someone to sit on it and keep it warm for it to hatch. The egg would not have developed fully without it. The baby that comes from the egg would not have known how to survive, what to avoid, and what animals to run from, without a teacher.
Think of it like this, can a baby survive without anyone to care for it? Of course not, but if the first people were adults, they could take care of children who would have children themselves. To think a baby came first and survived is illogical.

The egg came AFTER the Chicken because the chicken evolved from something else and then began laying eggs for reproductive purposes!
Just a guess. I don't really know, nor do I honestly care that much. Fun question though!
