unless you are having HD space problems ,your windows messenger i would just stop it from from startup - go to the startup
menu and then to run -type in msconfig - when the dialog comes up - go to startup - uncheck msmsgs that will stop your messenger from starting up.....you need to tell me if AOL program has been start for the best way to stop it's operation ,a lot of programs share files ,and just deleting things because you not use them is never a good idea.....good luck

In the Add Remove programs app, click on the add/remove windows components, you can see if some of the programs are in there. Do not delete folders or program icons, that may cause you problems later if you reinstall them. Some of them may also have uninstalls in the start menu or in their program folder. Some of the programs in the start menu are not the actual programs, they are either links to a web page or they are the actual install program. AOL does this. Check the properties of the icon to see what it really is. There are also components that aer hidden, if you really need to free up the disk space (probably not much) you can 'unhide' them so they show up in the list. Follow the directions in this link:

You can download CCleaner here: http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/
It will allow you to remove a lot more programs than Windows will. Not that it's typically little use to remove Windows Messenger: often, when you update Windows (using the Tools >> Windows Update option in Internet Explorer), it will be installed again. It's more practical to select the options in Messenger itself, and tell it NOT to load on Windows Startup.

Depending if your programs are installed directly into your computer or if you did a copy and paste of programs, the installed programs should be in the add/remove section. If it's the latter, it won't show up.

Ensure that you have the:
Show all updates
Box at the top ticked. This should resolve your issue.
If this is not the case then go to:
My computer
Hard Drive c (Default)
Program files
Then search and manually remove the unwanted folders.

Click on start ,all program's.Most of the thing's that come with the computer are listed there,at least on mine they were. And i deleted from there.Just right click and click delete.Or you could look in documents and find them and delete file from there. But most of them should be in all programs.
