Yes it is. I just bought one with CVT about 10 days ago. I have been waiting for months for there to be one in the area that wasn't loaded up with extras. Here are some things I noticed.
It is quick.

I have a couple of large people in my family and they are comfortable - it is roomy inside and there is a lot of room in the hatchback. You can tell when the car is fully loaded - it sits low - I am not used to that. The interior feels like a nice car. The doors have that solid sound when you shut them.

Sound system is good once you get the adjustments made - mine came with the back speakers adjusted nearly off(!?)
MY gas mileage (mostly highway) is not 36 MPG, it's 30 - but the AC comes on when you use defrost and I haven't got into a habit of turning it off. It should improve. (edit: bought gas today - 32.7 MPG)
And, it's quick.

I used to drive a Quest, which got hit by wind a bit - the Versa gets pushed around more.
We had a good bit of snow and ice and even though I couldn't get anti-lock brakes (can anyone find them?), I have no trouble in it.
And, did I mention, it's quick.

Bottom line:
I live 30 highway miles from where I work. The expressway I use is poorly designed and the mix of traffic is crazy. My first day of work when I drove home, a cement truck broke down and dumped a load of cement in the middle lane - and things really haven't improved since then. I am comfortable that this car can handle the unexpected and not break me financially if gas prices go up again.

The Nissan Versa is the same car as the Nissan Tiida (that has been in production in Japan for about 3 years). Since its been in production for a while...they have worked out most of the bugs and issues that you would normally see in a brand new car. Good price for a roomy car with good gas mileage and good performance.

I propose the Nissan Versa provide you great gasoline mileage at a low-fee value. yet I additionally think of that in case you care approximately type, that heavily isn't your decision. I propose, i think of which you attempt to assert that the Versa is used, yet whilst it fairly is a clean one, then you definately can purchase the Hyundai Elantra which seems good and can provide your 40+ MPG for around $sixteen,000-17,000. additionally, make beneficial that this Versa is decrease than $10,000. because of the fact no count if it fairly is over $10,000 then you definately can purchase the hot Versa sedan for roughly $12-13,000 and it fairly is a great motor vehicle!!! And its a 4 door with a great indoors. it's going to be a great first motor vehicle! the only difficulty i'm apprehensive approximately his potential. I propose beneficial the Versa is incredibly stable, yet in the snow or iciness time, the potential is basically basically no longer adequate. in case you positioned your foot down even on a dry day with the sunlight shining, the performence isn't that applaudible that Nissan's could be. of path, in case you do no longer recommendations for a splash "zippy-ness" then this could be a great motor vehicle. good success, and that i wish I helped!

I have one on order. It's more car than the Honda Fit and a full class better than the Yaris. The Yaris is a toy compared to the Nissan.

Mine's red with a CVT. Can't wait!

For the price, I think it is a great value. I would also check out the Honda FIt.
