In other words, what are the chances that a bank will re-imburse me if I got scammed by a company outside the states? Pretty much, I got scammed by a Canadian Loan Company. Wired the money through Western Union as a "upfront fee". The rest is history. I'm in the middle of making a police report, but i know others have been scammed too. Is there any of you out there that have been covered by your banks?

Yeah i called a few places actually that investigate that type of stuff. The credit union that i bank with gave me two forms to fill out. One that has to have the police case number on it and another one that has to be notorized. I'm hoping that by doing both these things, there may be a chance of getting it back. I'm planning on going tomorrow morning to the police station. I know these scammers won't get caught, but at least I'll have a case #, that's all I'm concerned about. But believe me, I'd love to catch those guys.

I doubt that there is much chance at all but with that said, you are definitely doing the right things by filing a police report.
I would talk to the bank manager, all they can say is no but who knows, they might even say yes!
At this point, what really do you have to loose?
Contact the Canadian police department too and see if they can be of any assistance.

You have lost your money. Using Western Union is one of the most common ways that scammers work. Western Union won't listen to you or care about your problems or the injustice, nor will anyone else. So now you know, never send anyone money by Western Union (even within the US) unless you know them personally. You can file a claim with Western Union but in the end it will do you no good.
