thats a sterotype women dont have to be the only ones who cook men can be just as good like women can be as good as any guy in anything

According to the Washington Post, it is estimated that around 35 percent of the country's working culinary professionals are women, while the number of women attending the Culinary Institute of America is even smaller, about 25 percent.
I don't t hink that the women are being discriminated against just that thier chosen profession is not chef.
Laura Bush preferred a woman chef to take the place of Hillary's chef, Walter Schieb, who was fired in Feb of '05. Her name is Cristeta Comerford, a 10-year veteran of the White House kitchen. Ms. Bush was urged on by a group of female restauranteurs that wanted to see a female in the executive chef position.

Anthony Bourdin author of "Kitchen Confidential" describes a very rough and tumble atmosphere in professional kitchens. Women get a LOT of ribbing and grief and there is a lot of machismo in the kitchen. Women do, however, dominate the career of Pastry Chef, so while men may be at the head of the helm, the women finish things off with sweet treats.
Read Anthony's book. It's a personal favorite.

I think it is because the work is hard! There is lots of heavy lifting and huge pots that are difficult to move EMPTY never mind filled with boiling hot food in them. Its NOT like cooking at home.
Most kitchens are very hot and crowded and it can be a dangerous environment. I just spent a year in a kitchen and while i enjoyed the cooking and creating part-it was very physically taxing. Its just one of those areas that women havent gravitated to since it is pretty unglamorous, unless you are on the food network.

Its no longer a womans interest . I dont be responsive to the place you got here up with that concept. a great sort of adult men are great chefs and that they only so happen like to prepare dinner..Why are women people law enforcement officers? ok...it rather is a decision some people make.

Chefs make lots of money, cooks dont. Women tend to have the jobs and titles that pay less.
