Depending on the depth and length, you should decide on whether to go to the hospital. Besides, you can never be too safe.

Clean it, put a bit of neosporin on it, bandaid it for a day or so, then take off the bandaid, clean it again and leave it alone. Babies get lots of scrapes and cuts and bruises and even the most dilligent parents will experience times when they discover ouchies on their kids and have no idea where or how he/she got it.
That said, I believe Tetanus vaccines are given by or right at age six months so if your child is up-to-date I don't think you have anything to worry about (like getting cut by a rusty nail or something).
Relax and smile. Your little tike will be fine. If you're really worried or not sure that your baby has had the correct vaccinations, call your pediatrician and ask.

If it's really bloody, wrap it in a towel, and get him to the doc. If it's just a big cut, keep it clean, bandaged, keep an eye on it. He'll be ok, it happens!

If you apply pressure and can't get the bleeding to stop than you should take him to ER as he will need stitches. Unfortunately your pediatrician usually will only remove stitches. I am not sure if urgent care can do stitiches but if so they would be a cheaper alternative if your insurance is not good or you don't have any. You can call your local urgent care and ask if they do stitches.

Clean it up. If you think it's really deep and needs stiches then take him to emergency. But it's probably fine. I wouldn't put a band-aid on it unless it's bleeding a lot, because it hurts their sensitive, soft skin when you remove it. Unless you use baby oil to get if off, but even then sometimes it still hurts. Don't panic, I'm sure it's nothing.

Take him to the local GP. He will explain the safest way to clean and bandage (if it needs that) the wound. Once he shows you how to look after it you should just keep and eye on it and if it becomes red or inflamed in any way, take him back to the doc and he may need antibiotics.

Clean it up. If it looks that bad then maybe you should be going straight to your gp or a hospital. Otherwise just put a bandaid/bandage on it.

Take him to the Er.
You do not want it to get infected. Tell them what you have told us. We use Antibiotic ointment under band aids, but you should have someone check that out first. Good Luck!

He's only six months old. So you should take him to ER because they'll know what to do and how to advise you
