…primitive, nonsensical, religious crap is still being forced upon them in an age of great understanding and knowledge? You know, it’s like, teaching kids all we know about the universe and scientific principles, stuff that makes sense and is logically correct, but then they’re also being taught that there’s another world full of all powerful mythical beings to which logic and sense are not as important as faith and belief? Is this an age of conflicting knowledge? And maybe this causes confusion of information and manifests itself in anti-social behavior? Will a time soon come when we’ll be forced to decide whether to teach our offspring knowledge that is beneficial to our species progression, that makes sense and is logical or should we teach them knowledge that requires faith and belief?

Well, first of all I wouldn't isolate the lack of morals just being associated with "youth"...

Mankind in general suffer from this.(all ages)

I'm actually not going to argue completely with your theory - that might surprise you, given the fact that I am a Christian.

I resent the condescending attitude just emulating from your question (regarding the way you have it worded...); but you have a very valid point in that there are alot of "mixed messages" being sent....

I don't know exactly where all this originally initiates from. I have noticed an overall lack of respect towards others (again, applying to mankind in general - not just Youth)

In an age with overwhelming knowledge readily at hand, it's sad & very unfortunate that people fail to practice "wisdom" and put this knowledge to good practice.

To answer the last part of your question or rather correct you: faith and belief are beneficial/essential. Teaching knowledge is completely useless, unless a person knows when to apply it.

I can teach a four year old to drive my car, but it would be unwise to put him behind my steering wheel; and give him the freedom to drive --- when he does not possess the maturity.

People need to mature, and realize God needs to be put as first priority. Everything else will fall in place.

God Bless.

Kids lack basics today due to being taught the wrong information.

You think your evolution and science is logical, right? Well I use to be in science, math and an atheist for 28 yrs. Today, I can easily prove to you that all you know, from science, its 100% false.

From evolution, to dinosaurs, to how the layers of the earth are and how old it all is.

From reading your statement its clear you do not understand the bible nor actually read it past a church or something. Churches do not teach the right information and they are as bad as schools.

Anyone can sit, read, study the bible and like any other book, take notes and the truth will come clear. Too many read this page or that page and think they know it all. Sorry, doesn't work that way. Just like a school book, can't read the first chapter and the last and expect to know what is all inbetween.

I can even prove that dinosaurs still walk the earth today and some keep them as pets. And I will use nothing but scientific fact to prove this....no bible verses.

It's nothing new: the "old" generation has been complaining about the "young" generation for many generations now. Have you forgotten the fact that the Ed Sullivan Show only showed Elvis from the waist up so that his hips wouldn't destroy the morals of the young...

What's amusing is that every new generation thinks they invented sex and angst, and every old generation thinks it was comparatively moral...

Re: Smiley (below): in the 1920's, high society had cocaine parties, and F. Scott and Zelda drank for the US Olympic Team. Why do you think this behavior is new?

You are correct about the wealth of knowledge we have in this age that we are privileged to live in. Knowledge is power and it comes to us through God.

I agree with you as well about the primitive religious crap that most religions swill out. I'm so glad that Christianity is a reality and not a religion.

Maybe I am too old to know about these powerful mythical beings. I'm lost with you on this.

We as adults need to monitor what our children are being taught in school and if its not up to snuff then get your butt to the school and speak out about it.

We can never forget to teach our children at home about God and His plan for salvation. So, I'm telling you that we must teach our children well for them to be able to know the truth.

Put in the time with them and reap the rewards.><>

You make an excellent point. I never made the connection between the conflicts between religion and science to the social problems of some kids today, but it could very well be part of the problem. It's confusing, isn't it? And I can see where that would drive many teens to be even more confused and depressed about life in general.

No, the youth are generally more immoral in comparison to older generations because a larger percentage of them participate in the immoral acts that the majority are involved in, such as alcohol consumption, drug intoxication, promiscuous sex, and being involved in little or no religious activities.

Generally these things are less frequent in older generations only because they have corrected their mistakes from the past, thus they are often hypocrites using a "do as I say, not as I do" philosophy.

I'm pretty sure that the church, which generally opposes pre-marital sex, abortion, theft, etc. is not the cause of teen-pregnancy, illegitimate children, divorce (young and old), or any other 'immoral' act.

Consider the 'great knowledge' that I get from the media and from the primary education classroom. I just recently saw, on one of the the music television channels, a very young Hispanic boy rapping, and guess what the visual objects of that video was? Money and women dancing.

Clearly the church is to blame...

I don't believe you are actually justifying the actions of your generation by blaming it on God. That's as bad as saying the devil made me do it. Perhaps if your generation wasn't coddled by society since the time they were babies being told they were "special" you'd understand the difference between right and wrong and not think the world owes you. Perhaps if you explored the fact that not everything in this world fits like a puzzle piece then you will understand faith in God. Take some responsibility for your own generation's shortcoming and stop trying to blame something else, sounds a bit convenient to me. Stop your whining and grow up!

With the lowering of moral standards by the mass media there are sex scenes and cursing and foul talk on a regular basis. This tells the younger folks that all that is cool and acceptable.

youre nonsensical question is the problem. People have been telling kids they have no morals for thousands of years. Look at cain, one of the first teen agers, he screwed up, broke the rules and upset everyone. You think this is something that just started happening this generation. You need to go to school.
