Hi guys! Thanks for the great answers I actually didn't see it in People magazine and it wasn't a Toyger. It was a random clipping from a UK 60 Pence That's Life Magazine with a grey cat holding a beer bottle. But I'm really glad you all told me about the toyger, I've checked it out and it looks more than that other cat I saw. It's great! Thanks!

Yes! I have one. It's called a Toyger. It is a new breed. I have met the actual breeder who started the breed. Her mother started the Bengal cat (looks like a leapord) breed about 30 years ago. The most recent cover story in Life Magazine was about the Toyger. You can go to www.toyger.org to find out more.

The one in Life magazine the other day was the Toyger, bred for its resemblance to the tiger. Not a coincidence. It was an interesting article with some beautiful pictures.

and if you google toyger, you'll find more.

I don't think so.Most of the "wild cat" breeds trace their ancestry to Asian or European wild cats - rather smaller than lions or tigers which I don't think you could keep in a domestic situation. We have a Bengal who is about 6.5kilos - he is long and sleek and loves jumping up on high bookshelves - he looks much like a normal tabby with spots and has big round eyes but would not be mistaken for anything other than a house pet.

I have a cat that is part Maine Coon, and some of her features remind me of a tiger. She has a wide nose, and very tiger like eyes. She is also a larger cat, as most Maine Coons are. Plus since she is long haired, the hair on the side of her face sticks out like some tigers fur does! No similar color pattern though. I guess the closest you would find to a color pattern being similar is a striped calico or something.

My friend has just bought a cat it looks just like a tiger and it will grow to about the size of a small/medium size dog. I don't know the name of the cat but i know that he paid 1500 pounds for it.

wise advise has the answer i was going to say so i gave her another thumbs up...the breeder is working on breeding them to actually look like tigers in the ears and face, it's a few years off, according to the article that i read, but it will happen.
i'll bet Seattle is up to speed on this more than the rest of us.

I think a longhair tabby, maine coon mix really resembles an lion or tiger. With it being a tabby it could be orange, gold or yellow.

There are hybrid cats that usually look extremely exotic such as Bengals, Chausies, Savannahs, Safaris, etc.
