Seriously, when people come on here to ask questions about their faith, can't they ask their questions without a bunch of atheists coming on and telling them that they are wrong and stuff. Just leave them alone and let them have their faith questions answered. We all know that you don't think their is a God, so could you just leave those questions alone?

I would say that's a good idea.
But for the questions directed at atheists, it would be nice if some of the christians left too.

I've never attempted to dissuade anyone from their faith. However, since you brought up the topic, I do believe that religion is the root cause of pain and suffering in our world today.

Religion creates division no matter how you slice it.

Christians might "respect" Jews, but in the end, they do not think Jews or anyone else who doesn't believe Jesus was the son of God will get to heaven. Correct?

Even more exasperating are the Christians who think getting all the Jewish people to move back to the Holy Land will somehow expedite the rapture.

Then you have pious Muslims who persistently blow themselves up to kill innocent people they've deemed infidels, all the while dreaming of a virtual pornographic heaven filled with young virgins and flowing with "milk and honey."

We need to realize that believing in God is no more logical than believing in Zeus or Poseidon. Then and only then can we begin to mend the wounds and scars that religion has left on our society.

Oh, by the way, "atheist" is not capitalized.

Satan won't let them butt out. Many of those atheists who invade spiritual discussions for the purpose of mockery don't realize it, but through their lack of belief in the spiritual world they are more easily subjected to demonic possession, and don't recognize the symptom of their possession for what they are. They end up going to psychiatrists and taking pills to relieve their symptoms when all they had to do was ask Jesus to help them and command the demons to leave. Some demon possessed atheists come here to mock Christ. There are also evil people in this world who are not possessed by demons and make it their business to do as much damage as they can to Christianity by trying to make Christians doubt the truth. Since this kind of atheist is so evil to start with, Satan doesn't waste time sending a demon to possess them. Satan just sits back and admires their work...

Unfortunately it is like asking oil not to be oily.

why are some children brats and others nice? Some people feel it is the right to say what they feel to whom ever they want. It is all about childish and right and wrong.
This is how I handle it.
any response that is just a bunch of malarkey I just click the thumbs down, poof I no longer see it. then just get on with it.

thing is, people like that do and say what they believe will start arguments because they want to be seen and heard. they do not care about the subject just the avenue to poke and make fun of.

trick is, don't let it get you down. that is after all what they want.

Why do Christians say that other religions are wrong?
when you have more than one belief you have different opinions. NO ONE should stop the flow of speech....I believe that everyone has the right to believe in what ever works for them.

by the way. not believing in something is believing in something. that's right they say they don't believe and they have faith in what they believe...it works for them.

That's really pretty funny. Christians want to butt into everyone's life by making their religion into law yet they think an Atheist shouldn't even answer a question. Have to love the irony.

SUGGESTION: Ask a question as if you were an atheist, to only other atheists, and see how many Christians answer.

This is not a one way street, nor is it an "exclusive" forum. I happen to have majored in religion and attended seminary. I know quite a bit about the bible and (largely Protestant) theology. When I answer, I'm not disrespectful.

However, if someone is patently silly, then they may need a bit of a jolt to re-engage their critical-thinking muscle.

It's funny that you want people to butt out of your questions especially since I have asked questions to Atheists, and even fellow Agnostics and I had many Christians answer the question as well. That's just the way life works sometimes.

As an Agnostic, I am open if you can prove to me there is a god, I will accept it. I read the Bible, and I read the Dhammapada as well.

Does not Jesus say to Love Your enemies and pray for those who persecute you. He also said Not to judge others, why do you see the speck that is in another's eye, and do not consider the log that is in your own eye, first take out the log that is your own eye, so that you can see clearly to help take the speck out of another's eye ! Jesus words {Matthew 7:1-5).

If you have anger/hatred issues, repent, pray, and humbly ask for help.

Use whatever methods your bible tells you to cultivate Patience {which is the antidote to anger and hatred).

Reading the bible, I observe/see Jesus practicing Forgiveness, *Patience,
and Loving-kindness toward all people.
And he was Compassionate.
Compassion is the wish for all beings to be Happy, to have a stable peace of mind, and to be free from suffering.

One of my favorite scriptures I have read and
still recall from the bible is in 1 Cor 13:11, from the chapter which teaches how to walk in love,
"When I was a child, I thought like a child, I spoke like a child, and I reasoned like a child; but when I became a man {when you mature in your thinking, speech, and behavior) I did away with childish [immature] ways."

Love is not easily angered, and love takes No offense to a wrong done to it. 1 Cor. 13:4-7
Doing this, is a sign of Maturity.

You simply need to humbly learn to develop Patience {Patience is the ability to remain calm, and mentally undisturbed in the face of harm or difficulties), and need to humbly cultivate unconditional Love {1 Cor. 13:4-7;11) toward all human beings. 1 Cor 14:1 says to make this kind of Patience/Love your Greatest Aim.

If you have a humbly teachable spirit, this will help you, if you do not - you will be furiously angry with me, possibly feeling rage and hatred.

Hold up! Do you just choose to ignore the fact that when some atheists ask questions, some Christians just answer by telling them that they will pray for them to find God, or that God is real and atheists are evil? Give me a break. People of all faiths, or lack of, do it to others.

Oh grow a spine...
Try asking a question about any specific religion and watch how the first 3-5 answers are from religious people from other faiths going on about what nonsense your religion is.

It's not just atheists. The atheists on Y!A are some of the least likely to just spout without being baited.

Not all atheists are like that. Ive known many who are perfectly content to let believers alone in that way. But just as there are control freaks in every religion there are atheist control freaks as well. I call them evangelistic atheists. They are just as zealous and self centered as any religious zealot.
They are just as annoying as the fundies are.
