How many of your schools include alternative sports like say skateboarding as opposed to football?

How many remeber hating it as say picked last for conventional sports.

How many would have gotton involved in things like surfing, skateboarding, powerkiting, windsurfing (given proper wetsuits) etc.

How many would suppor them to get more kids into sports who would not normally

Actually look at sports like rugby and hocky in terms of gettig hurt.

At least in skateboarding you set your own risk level to your ability and the kids would have all their safety gear on, plus they do it anyway.

Also thse extreem sports tent to have very positive cultures that go witgh them that are freidnly, peaceful, respect nature and teach technology ie ever heard of surf violence like football thugs...

no aint cool that man.

Today at school, one of my friends confronted the gym eacher about being to conventional. We are starting to have a skateboarding club, paint classes, and many new things. I think it's a great idea to have un traditiaonal things. I'm not athletic, but I love playing DDR. DDR gives you excersies while having fun! Adults just don't seem to realize that.

I live near a very large city and I have never heard of this...that's neat...unfortunately as a parent I would never promote my kids to skateboard as a sport...but windsurfing, surfing, and things like that would be cool!

Unfortunately they do not. As a parent I have brought up things like this, you would not believe how often I hear that the administration can not do that, or that the funding isn't there. My son is only 5 so I have years ahead of me of trying to force things through. I so love having something to fight for :)

Skateboarding is not a sport. It is bad enough someone can get hurt playing football but surfing and other things god people would be killed.
