"I have been to Munich" = "Ich bin in München gewesen"

"Ich bin nach..." is grammatically incorrect.(wrong preposition)
(maybe you confused it with "Ich bin nach München gefahren", in that case, "nach" is correct.(nach is used for a destination, not for a place you are, were, or will be, in))

"Ich war in München" works too
(lit. I was in Munich, slightly different meaning)

'Ich bin nach [place] gefahren/gereist' (lit. I have travelled to [place])

You could also say 'Ich war schon mal in [place] / bei [person]'

With a person you could also say e.g. 'Ich bin bei Mutti gewesen' (I have been to see Mum or I have been to Mum's)

'Ich bin im Kino/in der Gaststätte/am Bahnhof gewesen' (I have been to the cinema, the pub, the train station)
