I don't really know whether or not those habits make acne worse...but I don't think that quitting would hurt. After all, smoking is bad for your health as well as if you are an excessive drinker. Just a suggestion! I'm not really sure about the acne thing though. Sorry!

Good question. I don't know the medical/biological reasons for acne, I think it can be treated with medication, but my opinion is that since smoking and drinking (more than a moderate amount) is unhealthy, I can't imagine it helping the acne situation. I'd ask a dermatologist. I hear that Proactive really works and there are prescriptions you can take depending on what causes the acne.
Good luck

your skin is the largest single organ of your body. When you pollute your body on a daily basis, the first place it shows up is in the skin.
Tell you what, talk to your doctor about Accutane....you cannot drink at all while taking this acne medication, it acts like antabuse and drinking while you take the med will make you sick. Not to mention causing major liver damage.

Yes, alcohol irritates and drys the skin out and smoking - I think makes your pores bigger and if they are bigger the more easier it is for bacteria to get in there. Chosing to smoke and drink will make internal problems that are way worse than acne.

First of all you shouldn't smoke.....it can take 12 years off from your life! And don't drink so much either, then you'd have to go to AA meetings.....And I think it WILL help, i'm sure, but not entirely heal it.

Yes, smoke and alcohol is toxic and is also the reason why your skin age faster. If humans was meant to smoke, then we would have been borned with a cigaret in our mouths...
