It would work perfectly fine if you buy a plug voltage adaptor.
many people do just this.

NO, The Americans use 110v-120volts and we use 240 volts, it would probably scream into life and then destroy itself or just blow up instantly, either way danger to life and limb and a fire hazard is involved.

The only way to use make this idea work is to use a voltage reduction transformer of the type used on building sites where tools are restricted to 110v for safety, the cost of which is close to a new cleaners cost and it is a very heavy item to lug around the house.

A new 240v cleaner is the most reasonable answer, but it can be done if you have no alternative.

An adaptor will not do.
Plug in an American device designed for 115v into a 230v socket in the UK via an adaptor only will only be a recipe for disaster.

You need a transformer to convert the voltage from 230v at the socket to the 115v required for the American device.

in all probability not. The voltage interior the united kingdom is 240v and consequently you may fry a 110v gadget. (and that makes a bad scent). even nevertheless it does matter on the gadget. Alot of issues now days have a multivoltage transformer, e.g. maximum laptops have this as they're transportable. on the transformer it could have a voltage score which says enter one hundred-240V and then an output voltage (sticky label on the potential grant unit). in case you gadget does have this selection then specific you should replace the plug and use it.

You'll blow your Hoover if you tried to do that. It's 120 V in the USA and 230 V in the UK. Great way to ruin your Hoover and maybe burn the place down.

The USA has a 120V system ,We in the uk have a 220V system therefore it would not work here and just burn out (much noise/smoke and shiting of pants etc ) and a transformer to step down the uk 220v to 120v would cost to much money 50 to 100 pound approx....Dont buy it

No - the voltage in the USA is 110V. In the UK it's 220 to 240V.

The only way to do it would be to use a suitably rated 240 to 110V transformer.

However, a 2kVA one would weigh 15 to 17kg and cost £100 to £120.
A 3kVA one would weigh around 20kg or maybe more and cost even more.

It's neither practical or economical is it?

120 V in the United States (and 60 Hz). I wouldn't advise it.
