I'm getting my tongue pierced as soon as I get my pay check. Is there anything I can do to dull the pain. I heard its one of the most painful to get. What should I do?

Its going to be painful no matter what, if not during then after. There are a lot of nerves in your tongue and mouth. Think about a time you bit your tongue, now imagine the pain times 5 plus swelling afterward that makes talking and eating difficult. Think hard before you do this. Things can go wrong and you could end up regretting wasting your money on it. Either way, its your choice, your body and your money.

It does not hurt... the actual act of piercing your tongue does not hurt... sure you do suffer the slight embarrassment from drooling all over while your tongue is being held out of your mouth with these things that look like pliers... but the needle through the tongue does not hurt... The pain comes after, from several hours to several days... your tongue will swell and that is what is pain full, I drank plenty of milkshakes....

I know that 15 years from now, you're going to be reminiscing on this foolish decision and regretting it. What kind of idiot would purposely impale their tongue with some sort of metal object? And more importantly, what kind of person would expect for it to not hurt? It's a thick but, sensitive muscle. If you ever got your ears pierced, imagine how much worse it would be to endure the pain of your tongue?

Eat ice before you pierce it. It should numb the pain a little bit. But dont expect it to be painless.

First of all it doesn't hurt to have it done (I have mine done) and it actual is one of the better piercings to have because it is only slightly noticeable when you talk (unless you flaunt it of course). Also if you decide you no longer want it you will have no noticeable scaring from it and it will heal back to normal. So just go for it.

It's not going to ever be completely painless, you're poking a hole in your tongue!

I know a way to save money and not lot it be painful! =) Don't get one. It's just a waste of money. What use does it do? It's just there for.....for what? entertainment? appearance? to be cool? Save the money for something more useful! =)

Any body stupid enough to get a bolt thru their tongue, one of the hardest-working muscles of the body, deserves whatever pain they get.

Respect yourself. Dont' get it pierced.
