Try giving him a different food brand. If that doesnt work take him to the vet.

Complete refusal to eat can be a sign of a serious problem that will require a veterinarian's attention. But don't rule out that your dog may just be finicky. Refusal to eat is when a dog completely stops eating the food put before it or eats small amounts only reluctantly. Finicky eating is often a result of the food options made available to a dog. The dog still wants to eat, but it only wants to eat certain things. This can occur when a dog's diet is changed unexpectedly, or when a dog gets used to certain foods. One example might be a dog that regularly eats scraps from the table; this dog might eventually refuse dog food because it wants people food. Finicky eating is a learned behavior and there are certain things you can do to try and address it. Learn more about Finicky Eating. If a dog simply won't or can't eat, no matter what you try, you must see your veterinarian. This is especially true if your dog starts losing weight. The problem could be anything from sore teeth to serious internal problems, and your veterinarian can diagnose and recommend solutions to the problem. Sorry, your going to have to get to he vet with your lab....because if a lab won't eat when others on here state that they normally "woof" down their food without even so much a blinking an eyelash, something is definitely wrong. Good Luck. :)

i aired the same question on here a while back and peoples comments helped greatly as i now have a dog that eats...she is a retired grey and when i got her she ate everything and anything then 2months down the line she wouldnt eat this wouldnt eat that and she went without for 2 and a bit days...so i would advise you starve her as that episode will usually kick start them to feed..my grey was a buggar cuz she would turn her nose up...so we tried something else to no avail and it went like that for a coulpe of days hense the starve, dogs are sneaky cuz they no if they dont like something they will hold out for yummy stuff which costs an arm and a leg to buy but i perservered and she is eating moist dry food now which she stopped eating for whateva reason...i try her and my other grey on two meals a day but more often than not she will not take her food till gone 5pm where my other grey will have 2 meals more often than not...so yes i feed my greys once a day more often as thats what they will eat i cant force them to eat two meals ... if they have 2 meals, great,if they have 1 meal thats fine by me....do perservere and good luck xxxx

chances are he wont eat at kennels anyway. but dont worry to much dogs do not usually starve themselves. get him checked by a vet first to make sure there is nothing amiss. then choose a food you want to feed him break it up into say 2 meals and put the first bowl down say in morning leave it down for half hour take it away if it isnt eaten then try again at his second meal eventually he will eat it. maybe you are feeding him to much or perhaps he is just not a big eater.

Hi,
My dog was the same she is nearly one now and all she use to eat was chicken. I knew this wasnt a balanced diet so I put vitamins in and kept trying all dog food brands. Then in Jan she became ill and the vet gave her Hills I/D. She ate it all straight away and from then she is fine she just has a bit of tuna in it. It is more expensive than other brands but i think its worth it for them to be healthy.
I hope this helps!

Hi !!
I feed my dog moist pellets by Hi Life - best of both worlds !!
Iams do a dog gravy too so if he wants wet then mix some of that with the pellets.
Don't worry about the kennels - if they are half worth your money they will be flexible and understanding.
Good luck!!

our dog is the same.this is what you are supposed to do.
you decide on what food is best for your dog. you leave the food down and if he does not eat it after 15 Min's take it up. try again 8 hours later. repeat until you win, and the dog decides to eat.
this is what we done
try the above for 1 day... feel guilty........buy the dog whatever he wants and beg him to eat just a little bit of whatever it is. reward him with tit bits from our plates when he deigns to eat the expensive stuff we got him in the first place

okay, i saw this problem before and the suggestion worked:

if indoor dog, put him in a room with the dry food. (or wet. which do you WANT him to eat?) he WILL get hungry so he'll eat the dry food.
DO NOT give him a treat. i prefer to put him in a room with your or someone for supervising.

if he lives outdoor, just leave the food that is out there until he eats it.
again, he will get hungry.

hope this works!
it works on my dog.

take to the vet sounds like he is not well and get him checked out, try some gravy in the dry, labs normally eat everything inc the horrible things , try some plain boiled rice and hard boiled eggs mixed together normally very tasty for a lab, mine eats everything even rabbit dropping horrid thing ! but love her dearly,or he knows your going to leave him and has started pinning soon as they see a suitcase / pile of clothes .....

See the vet, especially if this is recent. Generally Labs are well known for having a hearty appetite.
