Honey: That depends on what you intend to do with the language once you learn it. If you only want to travel or talk casually you only need conversational Spanish. If you desire to read and write, on the other hand, that will require some in-depth study or grammar.
Learning the basics from a book is good, but it is better to be involved in a class where you will find people who can practice with you and an instructor to guide you. Watching Spanish t.v. is helpful to train the ear, but you still need to take a couple of classes.
Spanish is a very exact language with many exact meanings which English does not have so decide first what your intended purpose is and proceed to your goal.
Cheers,
Mr. M on "easiest method."

Watch the Spanish channel or news in Spanish. I'm not joking. If your are not in a foreign country, watch news or programs in Spanish or another foreign language. It will help you learn. Kind of like an immersion program at home. I worked at Wal-Mart and the town where I live has more Spanish than English so I felt like I was in Spain. I learned French in school first and would have learned Spanish had I known that the majority of people I have spoken with did not know English (there were a few), but it was frustrating knowing you could not speak in English and them not know what you say. So, I am watching the Spanish news and other things. It has helped me learn as in the spoken language. Now the written is a different story.

The best way to learn any language is to live in that country , you Will learn it as you are in real life situation and sometimes do not have any choice but learn .
I did it - no books , no courses.

If you go the course to learn the language - and never use it , or just occasionally use it - you waisted your money - sooner or later you will not remember a word !!!!

To learn ANY language it seriously shouldn't take more than a few hours. The thing that takes a long time is grammar.
