I used it for 30 years and am now convinced that I was using it as a form of self medication, but would have been much better off, mentally, physically and financially, by practicing daily for 20 minutes the meditation technique described in: http://www.healthyplace.com/communities/ Although you are probably not ready to take that step yet, the vast majority of users give the habit away as they become older and wiser, so write down that website and add it to your favorites list. Also, as a harm minimisation measure, learn to cut it up fine, add a teaspoon of vegetable oil, 1 or 2 tablespoons of self raising flour, and a little water, to make a thick batter or dough, then fry in a pan or put in the oven until golden brown. 45 mns to first effect, peak at 60, with the added advantage that you can use more of the weaker stuff, like leaf, with less of the bud, and it lasts longer, too. Smoking it is not quite so damaging as smoking tobacco: don't kid yourself, this is no BS! (I'm not saying quit right now, just convert to a safe method) - I gave up smoking pot when I started coughing up flecks of blood, so do yourself a big favor (and convert your friends, too!).

Perhaps more aware of what is going on in your immediate space. And the wiser depends on how much pot you smoke, and when you smoke it.
If you smoke instead of going to work; unwise.
If you smoke while tending to children; unwise.
If you smoke with others, discuss politics, religion, things going on on the universe, etc.--it definitely makes you wiser, because you shared/heard different viewpoints, and have a more open mind.
But, it can make you miss out on outdoor recreation, exercising your body, meeting new people/trying new things, or relaxing activities like Yoga. So, try to spend one day a week pot-free, in at least the daytime hours. This also keeps people from labeling you a stoner/pothead.

I used to believe that too. I had smoked for 20 years and at first it may have opened me up spiritually, but after a while it became an addiction and it just made me lazy, forgetful , stupid and hungry. And it did lead me to try other drugs eventually. When it became a real problem and an addiction I had to quit.

Your glassy eyes have affected your judgment. Your IQ has diminished considerably, and your memory is shot.

You probably think you're smarter now because you can't remember how your brain worked before pot!
