whats worse from a partner? lies or omitting?
and why do they see a distinct difference? usually by saying that it wasnt really important(yeah to them maybe!!)

Omitting is lyings ugly cousin! Both are the same thing. If your in a realtionship with someone you shouldnt need to hide anything. You should be able to be just open and honest. Besides its much easier to just tell the truth.. If thats not possible then maybe this isnt the right relationship for you.

Both can be just as bad as each other. Omitting require a person to deliberately think not to tell you and in that respect is just like a lie.
I think that when you said about it not being really important(yeah to them maybe) shows to me that there may be some issues about in the background as empathy is a very important part of any relationship.

It depends - if my bloke omitted to tell me he slept with someone else, it would be as bad as lying about it.
But if he omitted to tell me hed been to the shop it wouldnt matter, If he lied about that Id think something dodgy was going on.
Fortunately he is afflicted with a rare disease that makes him tell the truth all the time. Except that he will always say he doesnt know what to get me for christmas and so on.

Both are part of the same recipe.A recipe for disaster.It's dishonest whatever way you look at it.Dress it up how you can to make it look better, but there's no difference.Any relationship needs an open trusting honest basis or else what's the point?

That all depends-----not ALL omissions are necessarily meant to deceive -----did you not ever do anything you would like to just forget about and not keep dragging up over and over?
