Most of the stuff in his documentary is lies. Snow is disappearing on Mt. Kilaminjaro because they cut down all the trees. Water is disappearing in Russia because they diverted many river systems. He should become a spokesperson for Weight Watchers if you ask me not run for President. I think he is a loser.

I agree. To put together a movie like "An Inconvenient Truth" while living in a mansion WITH a guest house that burns 10 times the fuel of the average family and hire a producer for the movie who has a Gulf Stream Jet (which in one flight uses the equivalant of what driving a Hummer for a year would) makes him look like an idiot.

He's got the carbon footprint of Big Foot.

And he couldn't be a spokesperson for Weight Watchers, dude. What are you thinking? Maybe for bacon or butter, though!

People who argue and say "most scientists" agree that there is global warming neglect to mention that scientists most definately do not agree on the cause. And a good deal of scientists don't agree that it's even happening.

See:
http://www.wcflunatall.com/globalwarminglie.htm
for more information from a scientist who disagrees and makes a lot of good points.

Oh, hey, he is definitely a BIG hypocrite .. all you have to do is look at the news to see just how much ... that big mansion ... well he uses so many more times the energy that the average family uses (even adjusted for size) ... the plane, the fuel hog of vehicles, and everything else ...

If I had to say ... he has the carbon footprint of a small state!

I see that you don't accept emails. This makes it impossible to send you a private message pointing out the serious errors in your point of view. With due respect, Sir, you've allowed your facts to be distorted by your emotional agenda.

That having been said, isn't it great we live in the good old USA? It's your perfect right to believe any damn fool thing you please. Even so, it is not your right to impugn the reputation of an honest man. There are serious laws against libel and slander and you would be well advised to curtail your juvenile anger at those with whom you disagree, especially in such a public and permanent forum as this.

At least he's speaking the truth. YOU people are delusional. He may own a mansion that runs on oil or gas yeah, but at least he's saying something that makes sense and that is true. Even if he doesn't care about the truth at least he's speaking it & we should ALL hear to what the REAL scientists are saying! It doesn't matter if he has a degree or not, heck, he might have just been saying what the scientists told him to say, but at least those scientists told him RIGHT!

Yes, the worst kind! Fear is a powerful tool in the "global warming religeon" these are the same people who thought we would freeze in the 70's. Climate change is cyclical. What kind of S.U.V. melted the glaciers during the last ice age?

Well he did invent the internet after all. So why shouldn't he tell us to drive electric cars while he is riding from town to town in a private jet preaching to the masses about using a clothes line to dry our clothes (while he's wearing chemically cleaned suits). Nothing hypocritical about that at all. I wonder if he solar power heats his 10 bedroom mansion in Tennessee, or if he uses heating oil....How many SUV's does he own???

Al Gore's personal life is not important. If you think it is, you're not thinking seriously.

Al Gore has nothing at all to do with the science behind global warming. He is in no way responsible for any of the solid data about global warming. He is not singlehandedly causing global warming. He's just an actor.

And his message is backed by 99+% of all scientists. They may disagree on some of the details, but not on the basic message. Global warming is real, it's not natural, it's caused by us. And it is a serious threat to our country.

Here's some solid information about the basic scientific agreement on global warming and just a little of the data underlying it.

Not from some environmental extremists, but from the most respected scientific organizations in the world. Practically every scientific organization publicly supports the reality of global warming.

Talking about Al Gore's personal life in the face of the threat is silly. The people quoted below are hardly fans of Al Gore, but they don't make that mistake. They don't get their information from "An Inconvenient Truth", they get it from the best scientists in the world. None of these people are fools, or environmental crazies. You may not respect them all, but surely you respect some.

"The science of global warming is clear. We know enough to act now. We must act now."

James Rogers, CEO of Charlotte-based Duke Energy.

"The overwhelming majority of atmospheric scientists around the world and our own National Academy of Sciences are in essential agreement on the facts of global warming and the significant contribution of human activity to that trend."

Russell E. Train, Republican, former environmental official under Presidents Nixon and Ford

"We simply must do everything we can in our power to slow down global warming before it is too late. The science is clear. The global warming debate is over."

Arnold Schwarzenegger, Republican, Governor, California

"Our nation has both an obligation and self-interest in facing head-on the serious environmental, economic and national security threat posed by global warming."

John McCain, Republican, Senator, Arizona

"These technologies will help us become better stewards of the environment - and they will help us to confront the serious challenge of global climate change."

President George Bush

These "questions" have nothing at all to do with science. They are simply political statements which properly belong in the politics section.

dont know about Al but i do know something about thr Environment

how i envey the bliss of ignorence enjoyed by so many ,
but for how long can one have his head in the sand ,before noticing that your a**s is on fire

Is global warming a man-made menace?

not all there are natural cycles in the planets life
but a lot is influenced by mans existance ,and this is increasing with overpopulation, putting strains on Natural resources and increasing contaminations as well as destructions of essential componants the ensure living conditions for all life forms

some home truths

politicians and scientists who work for politicians have downplayed the facts because solutions are expensive and means change and change effects many people income, and most of the world is kept in the dark of the real things that are going on.

in North Africa,India,Mexico ,millions of people are effected by land loss and desertification

in recent times thousands of people have died because of exessive heat, usually old people.in India ,Mexico and France,
deforestation causing desertification, the desert conditions causing very cold nights and scorching hot days

in china, thousands of what used to be farmers are running for their lives from the dust storms that have burried their towns and turned their lands into dessert, the globe where they were got to hot for them .
and instead of producing food they are now needing it from some where else, and they will drastically effect the world food prices when they start buying water in the form of grains ,at any cost destabalising governments, in some countries ,could be the result
(are you seeing more Chinese around interested in agricultural lands ,we do here in Mexico)

,the Sahara is growing by 7 kilometers a year
and all of the desserts we know are a results of mans actions ,and they are increasing ,not getting less ,in the dinosaurs days ,there were no desserts.

collectively this planet is drying up because of bad farming practices like, over grazing and fertilizers,

as far as the food production is concerned, Global warming or some of its effects are serious, rising seas result in landloss

each degree rise in temperature means 10%crop loss

more landloss because of desertification every year,we have less areble land to produce food ,for an extra 70 million people ,

and there is less and less water (because of deforestation),to irrigate this production ,
and there are less and less farmers to do it..
who are overpumping deep carbon aquifiers
who are plowing more and more unstable lands because they have lost so many million hectares to desertification ,
because of bad farming practises ,such as using fertilizers and heavy machinary or over grazing

RISING SEAS
The northpole is melting ,and we will know it without ice in our life times.
this does not affect the sea level because it is ice that is already in the water.but the melting ice from Green land and the south pole ,are another matter.

Global warming is in theory reversable, but it will mean global co operation between all countries ,and taking into account human nature and the world politics ,it is unlikely that this will happen,

At least not untill we are all in the middle of planetary disastres and it becomes a battle for the survival of humanity every where.

SOLUTIONS
if you want to help the planet ,plant a tree every week ,if everyone on the planet did we we would be able to reverse the destructive processes

reduce carbon emisions, and they are already working on that by alternative forms of energy and regulations on carbon producing materials, aerosol cans, burning rubbish, industrial chimneys, powerplants etc.

the capture of carbon and the production of water and assist the aquiferous manta.

the world bank pays large subsidies for reforrestation to capture carbon and the best tree for this is the Pawlonia

Waterharvesting projects ,such as millions of small dams.to redirect over ground waterflows from the rains into the ground to supply subteranian water supplies.

the protection of existing forrests.

stop building more highways, urban planning to include vegetation stop building cities encourage people to return to the land to conduct their business from there which now has become possible thanks to the internet.

education to motivate people to auto sufficiency by building more home food gardens.

education on environmental awareness
education on family planning to curb over´populaion

Agricultural education and improvements to follow the principals or sustainability and soil management.

more environmental or land ,design to prevent bush fires, such as--fire breaks

,more dams.regulations and control for public behaviour

alternative effeciant public transport to discourage the use of the internal conbustion engine

recicling wastes,limit water use
