In answer to one of my questions, somebody commented that a vegetarian diet didn't do Linda McCartney much good.
Linda McCartney had a good life, she greatly enjoyed being a vegetarian, following her principles.
Cancer affects many people, it is not funny, and vegetarianism was never expected to make people live forever.

Cancer isn't necessarily just caused by foods consumed by the person. It's caused by environmental issues (chemical exposure), genetic issues (some families are predisposed to cancers), life choices (smoking etc.).

The person who made that comment about Linda McCartney was just expressing their bias against the vegetarian lifestyle.

Being a meat eater doesn't mean you will get cancer and being a vegetarian doesn't mean you won't get cancer. Cancer is caused by many things, most of them unknown...but eating meat HAS been linked to certain types of cancer. There will always be the genetic side of things that you will never fight, whether you're veggie or not. There is no way to stop yourself getting cancer 100%, but you can obviously do all you can to prevent certain types of cancer that you might not otherwise be not at risk of...and the first step should be to stop eating dead, rotting, tumour filled flesh!!!!!!!!!

I don't know think that meat eaters die from Cancer. Cancer is a very serious sickness that affects many people. I know that a lot of people suffer and also die from this very bad disease. I also know that a lot of people have very strict diet, and i know that meat should'nt be the cause of this very bad sickness.

Cancer is cancer irrespective of whether you`re a meat-eater or not.
Vegetarianism and Veganism is not a natural diet for Humans ,we`ve evolved as omnivores. We`re not capable of digesting the celluloses that are in a lot of vegetables.

A diet heavy in meat has been directly linked to numerous types of cancer, heart disease, and diabetes. No one ever said vegetarianism was a cure for cancer, but it certainly can lower the risks of certain types. The statistic, according to the American Cancer Society (NOT a vegetarian group!) is that a vegetarian has 40% less of a chance of developing cancer and that 30% of all cancers in the west are linked to dietary choices. http://www.americancancersocietypromotesdisease.org/connection.html

Wow. What a thought. I'll be some vegans also die of cancer. What do you think? And don't get all flustered on me. Seriously, you asked a pretty unintelligent question. Cancer sucks and it strikes people of every age, race, creed, etc... no matter what they eat or how they live their lives. Are there things we can do to lesson our chances? According to scientist, yes. But to lump one group of people together as being safe or not is asinine!

I don't think cancer discriminates diets. I'm sure some diets are healthier than others. But genetics also play a factor.

Perhaps some diets help prevent other diseases. Ex. A vegetarian diet probably helps with people who have heart disease in the family.

Good luck finding your answer.

cancer is not related to diet so meat eaters, vegans and vegetarians can all die from cancer.

Vegetarianism is a lifestyle choice not necessarily a healthy option. Cancer doesn't care what you eat.

Apparently eating large quantities of beef can cause stomah cancer as our digestive systems cannot cope with it. A varied diet will keep you healthy, but unfortunately we all have to die someway.
