I think it's true but how to prove the lame-a** who wrote the creation story hadn't looked at dead bodies already and figured that out. I've never heard of any symbolic referene to ribs so why write that if you weren't trying to explain something? I mean, look at all the battles being fought 'in the beginning' (Abraham even had some)-In fact, how could the author not know?

just read the other answers-boy, do I feel sheepish, obviously, it's false...Dusty Scribe has a point, but still...why a rib? I doubt the author was refering to DNA curves-if he was, he's guilty of not letting us in on some medical info!

That is False. Forget the Garden of Eden. The entire WORLD is Eden. God might have taken that rib from ADAM but that didn't mean that his desendants wouldn't have a full set.

Oh you silly-billy! Only ADAM's ribcage had one less rib than a woman's! The genetic code to produce that missing rib was still a part of his DNA which he passed on to his children.

that wouldn't be logical anyway. it's not like to create women God takes ribs from men, it only needed to be done once. even if Adam had children the one less rib thing wouldnt have passed on to them and to us since it was a physical thing.(like if someone's leg got cut off their offspring wont be born the same way.
