I have an irrational fear of choking. Sometimes I can get the pills down and sometimes I can't.

I have the same problem and I might cut it up in to smaller pieces, or I crush it and stir it in with apple sauce or something similar.

If you want to swallow them, try milk because it's thicker and you don't know the pill is there, or try drinking water, or other things with a straw because it forces the pill down.

What kind of pills are they? If you are taking a supplement I would recommend using the Isotonix brand from Market America. They are powder form. When you mix them with water they become isotonic (pre-digested). Your body will absorb them within about 5 to 10 minutes. On top of that, the absorbtion rate can be up to 98%. Even the best pills on the market need to first be broken down and then after that you still only absorb about 20%.

fill your mouth about 1/2 way with water. Then drop one pill in your mouth. Shake your head. Don't think about the fact that there is a pill in your mouth, just swallow. If the pill gets stuck fill your mouth with water and shake again.
SOME PILLS YOU CAN NOT BREAK!!! read the box some medication will harm you if you break it. but if you can break it then do so and take little Pisces at a time.

That happens to me all the time. What I do is, I take a sip of water and keep the water in my mouth. Then I throw the pill in and swallow it along with the water. Therfore, I just imagine it as water! =) Ta-da. I hope it helps. If not, you can put the pill in a cup of water (but very less water) and let it dissolve. then you can drink it when it is liquid. Unless it has a capsule on it, you have to pull the two capsules apart! =)

Get a pill cutter. Or, in the case of a pill that can't be cut, fill your mouth with water after placing in your mouth and swallow all at once.

Try putting the pill in a spoonful of icecream or applesause. Work on swallowing smaller pills, then move up to larger ones. I used to have trouble to.

Don't worry that happens to me too. If the pill is not too big I drink water first because I think it's gonna get stuck in my throat, lol. After that I put the pill as far as I can and drink really really fast. If it's big which to me mostly all pills are big I cut them in half and drink one by one.

Grab a pill cutter at the pharmacy and cut one in half and see if that helps. Also lots of scripts can be made into liquid form. ask the pharmacist about it. many times they can contact the doc for you and get the OK to make a liquid. Good luck :)
