I mean like a nice steak. I suddenly have this vision of the cow in the field. Or a nice boiled egg. Then I remember it came from the nether regions of a chicken. How can I stop tormenting myself.

Your not alone. . . . I use to do the same thing and on occasions still do. I would never eat chicken because I would envision the chicken running all around. It took me years before I would even think about eating it. I do now but on occasions when I start thinking about it, I just try to think of something else.

I know this doesn't really answer your question but thats exactly how I became a vegetarian...Literally eveyrtime I bit into a piece of chicken I would get so grossed out thinking about that it used to be alive...but I am very happy as a vegetarian and there are SOOO many other foods besides meat...and im a lot healthier too!!

I think more people should think about where their food has come from. Personally I'd like to be able to afford to buy free range meat instead of the rubbish we get in the supermarkets. However I wouldn't think too hard about any food, otherwise you won't eat anything. Don't forget veggies are grown at worst covered in chemicals.........and at best covered in animal poo !

Stop eating the meat. Not thinking about won't make it not true. It would be hypocritical to say it torments you and then to ignore it simply for personal pleasure.

When I think about where food comes from I just throw up. I also think about how nasty certain animals are, such as cows, and pigs. I love to eat pork.

Maybe you should be eating things that you DO feel comfortable with. There are loads of lovely things to eat out there. If something upsets you while it is in your mouth, maybe it isn't the right food for you.

I'm the same. Haven't eating a pork pie since my butcher friend told me exactly what they were made out of!
