i found a coyote jawbone and would like to put it in a jar with something that would help the longevity of it...any ideas?

I'd try salt but then again it is kind of risky.

leave it outside away from large animals and let the insects work their magic if it still has remaining tissues. Boiling it in laundry detergent will also help remove tissues. Storing it in an alcohol solution (rubbing alcohol @ 65%) will also aid in preservation.

Unfortunatly, I don't think anything will make it last for a long time, but you could bleach it. That helps.

Why not just keep it dry sitting on a shelf?
