She needs to see a vet and soon. It sounds like glaucoma or a major injury. Either one needs treated quickly..All swollen eyes are super painful!

It sounds like a retro bulbar abscess. This usually occurs in small breed dogs who get really bad teeth and one of the back molars abscesses. The infected area runs right behind the eye cavity and when it swells with puss this pushes out the eye and causes pretty severe discomfort. Small dogs are noted for getting really bad teeth and need dental cleanings at least once a year to prevent these from occuring. Take him to the vet asap and get him checked for this problem and they will sedate him and clean his teeth and they can drain the abscess releasing the pressure from the eye. This is a painful problem and usually effects their appetite as well. Look at the dogs back teeth and see if they are covered in a brown hard substance that is tarter and if his breath is really bad, that is your problem. If it's not the teeth, he may have ran into something and hit his eye on something, either way needs to be seen by a vet, because either one can cause him to loose vision in that eye. Good luck.

You need to take it to the vet.. there could be many reasons why its doing that... infection, swelling in the brain, allergies, trauma from something hitting the eye... your pooch needs a vet's opinion on whats going on and how to treat it!
