I keep trying to meditate but i have too much stuff going on in my head, if somebody could give me some pointers on how to clear my mind that would be great. Also any other tips about meditating are welcome.

I have had a chance to do Yoga and meditation and I know many people have a hard time clearning their mind when meditating and one thing or the other keep coming in to their mind. But that is a good start you just need to let the thoughts come into your mind and slowly and steadily over a period of time after 10 or 15 mins sometimes you will see that those different thoughts become one and that's where you need to concentrate and then after few weeks of practice your mind will be cleared of everything when you meditate.

So don't try to fight the thoughts that come in. The more you try to fight it the more it comes in. Leave it alone let it come and go you just keep your eyes closed (can have it opened but having it closed is much better) and stay calm and don't talk to anyone 15 mins before the meditation and 15 mins after the meditation.

Meditating in the bathroom can be a good start because there won't be anyone disturbing you there.

Starting to meditate in the beginning is hard. What I did was buy a good meditation tape from a store and sit in a quiet place, with a lit candle, and play the tape. It guided me through the meditation. While listening to what they tell you to do on the tape helps you forget about the stuff going on in your head because your busy concentrating on listening and to your deep breathing exercises. If you don't prefer this way, there are meditation groups out there that you can go to. The energy is better in a group setting. But chose what suits you. Good luck.

It all starts with concentrating on your breathing. Take in as big a breath as possible (through your nose), try to hold it four 3 - 5 seconds, and then let it out very controlled (slowly) through slightly parted lips. When you think it's all out give it an extra little push (use your diaphram). Repeat this process a few times, and then concentrate on your mantra (a simple two syllable word of your making). Your breathing should still be controlled but you don't have to take in as big a breath, or hold it. Before you realize it your mind is clear.

you need to relax and listen to gentle sounds I like the small water fall or even watching the fish just swim in their tank this creates, a very relaxed sensation and then you can clear your mind. also using a short mantra can help but this is usually use for fast relaxation and by experienced and serious people who meditate
