Honey, I'm in the same boat as you. I have a Master's degree (not that makes me a genius or anything, I'm just saying I have spent a lot of time reading), and I don't understand the language. I get confused sometimes after one verse. I often feel like I'm not measuring up in God's eyes. But remember, all men fall short, but we are forgiven if we believe. Some people will say, "if you were a true Christian, you would understand" or "if you are truly saved, God will give you the ability to understand". These people make it seem like if you struggle with it at all, your in trouble. Maybe it's not meant that way, but that's how I perceive those comments. I don't agree. All people have questions, that's how we learn and grow as believers. No one "knows it all" the moment they get baptized or realise God. They do have a book that is a "layman's" Bible that uses simpler language, so it's easier to understand. Try a Christian bookstore. The most important thing in Christianity is love each other and care for each other and hold fast in our faith.

I have and still am in your shoes. There is alot that we aren't supposed to understand, and know one should pretend to know everything. But God is the only Being that I trust to tell everything to. All you have to do is trust and believe. That's what I have been told anyway. I pray everyday and believe it or not I can feel myself growing closer to him. I know he is there and he proves it everyday when I see my Kids. The bible is very confusing but it helps if you have someone to sit and talk to as you read. Kind of like a study buddy. I got to a place where I was questioning if he was even there. But over the last year I have found my faith again. Hope this helps some.

Many of us ask the same thing including myself...but deep in your heart you will when things you pray for, praying from your soul to come to a full circle. Was there a time when you really felt, like saying "G_d help me I'll never bother you again?"...and then later found out that He in fact helped you but you never realized He did, but if you ponder hard enough you will found out G_d works in mysterious ways. G_d is with us all the time in faith...never let anything get in the way, just pray when you heart
desires and you will find peace within yourself. When no one is available there is always G_d by your side. Faith is all you need.

I would suggest you read in paragraphs and try to analyze it.
about understanding the Bible. Don't beat yourself too hard, we are not being punish for not reading the Bible!.

Most importantly for you right now is to find a small doctrinal bible teaching church and start attending faithfully and consistently.

Here is where you will find the fellowship and support that you are looking for and need in order to further your relationship and walk with God. Hopefully in this church you will seek out and find a more mature Christian who will become your mentor and help guide you in your study of the bible and Gods will in your life.

If you have not accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior, at some point you will feel the need to do this, and then your life should begin to change dramatically as you shed your fleshly thoughts and desires and start emulating the characteristics of Jesus Christ.

I wish you God speed.

what's rather perplexing to comprehend is why such lots of recommend-lively human beings (curiously like your self) locate it mandatory to attack the ideals of others? Does your attack make you experience enormous? clever? extra effective? See ref hyperlink a million under. If the believers are incorrect, so what? in the event that they do you no harm, so what? (and don't attempt to have confidence in the reason for wars argument, it rather is old and old). on the different hand, in the event that they're proper you should be in for some extreme pain / grief the two after your loss of existence or after the subsequent religious chief arrives. in any case, an answer that has been recorded in literature for no less than a million,000 years is that God isn't hiding or hidden - he/she/that's performing proper previously your eyes proper now and each 2d. perhaps 'hiding' in undeniable sight is merely too diffused for human beings lacking sensitivity or faith (no longer the comparable as concept). in case you think of this would not carry on with to you, answer an age-old query: the place does the belief you merely theory / experienced / had come from? once you may heavily and properly answer the query with reference to the source of theory, you will no longer ask the query approximately hiding God. assured. yet another good answer is given in reference 2 under.

The bible confuses me too! But all you have to do to have god in your life is to just believe in him and love him and he'll be there for you always! Something else you can do is pray and go to church! He'll listen to you and watch over you.

Hope this helps!

What does the word "God" mean to you?

Is it some all knowing all rewarding deity? Santa Claus
Is it some all knowing all punishing deity? The Devil
Is it the beginner of the universe? A random act of physics
Is it the creator of life on Earth? Many random acts of chemistry

This world is wonderful enough that we don't need a God. Its terrible enough to prove that if one existed, he doesn't deserve our worship.

Pray, read the bible with a study book, go to a great, praising church, and pray. God will give you answers through other things.

First let me just say that I don't think there is a "single" solution to help improve our relationship with God.. everyone person is dealing with different situations in their lives..

But I can share with you my own personal experience..

I was born and raised Christian, been a Christian all my life.. and for 35 years.. I never really had Jesus in my life. Sure I believed in Him.. and all the stuff that I learned in church, but I can honestly say that I never had a personal relationship with Him..

It wasn't till about 5 months ago that I truly fell in love with Jesus.. and it's made the biggest difference in my spiritual life.. I will never be the same again.

And this is what changed it for me..
I realized that all my life.. I have been living it to make myself happy. I pursued things that I thought would bring me satisfaction. I never took time or considered what it was God wanted. The focus was on me.. and not on God.
It was realizing that God wants me to focus on Him.. and that I needed to surrender my life to Him first.. is what changed things around.

If you ever get the time... please check out this link

And please remember.. God longs for us to know Him better.. and if we sincerely seeking Him.. He will reveal Himself to us.
